1:29 to Cannon Fire
Where there were once four globs of gel with spherical computers entrapped within, now stood four gelatin forms. The mechanical orbs were now suspended in the mid-section of their gel bodies, pulsing lights blinking to indicate they were now active.
All four of them had assumed shapes close to that of existing Pokémon. The major difference that gave off a distinct feeling of the uncanny being that rather than fur, feathers, scales, flesh, or anything natural. They were nothing but a single colour of gel.
Two of these false Pokémon – colored in a metal grey gel – had taken the form of a pair of Skarmory, the what would be metal birds hovering in the air menacingly. The other two – in a shade of lime green – were a towering pair of Haxarous. Still intimidating even if made from what was essentially jelly.
It wasn't a surprise that Luke and Unite were shaken. Especially as the mockeries of Pokémon assumed aggressive stances.
Luke: “Oh Arceus. Oh Arceus, I wasn't prepared for this!”
Unite: <And you think I was?!>
Luke: “Okay, let's not panic. They're Pokémon. They're made out of jelly, but they're still Pokémon! Unite, Arie-”
Luke was cut off by the false Skarmory screeching loudly. Except in a mockery of a real Skarmory's cry, in a way that sounded like they were gargling water at the same time, the two opened their beaks wide and fired a burst of metallic energy at the human.
“ACK!”
Unite: <I don't think so!>
Jumping in front of his trainer, Unite raised his wings around himself. This action spontaneously formed a deep blue barrier around the bird, the bolts of energy exploding against it harmlessly.
Luke had been knocked off his feet, but was otherwise fine. He paused to wipe his brow.
Luke: “Thank Arceus I taught Protect to all of my Pokémon!”
Flapping his wings, Unite flew up as he glared at the group of Pokémon. With a gurgling roar, the Haxorus charged at the bird.
Unite: <You want some, Jello-shots? Then come and get it!>
All of a sudden, his wings flashed white as they seemingly transformed into metal...
And with a loud screech, he charged the dragons in kind. One of them reared back it's head, then swung a sharp axe at him...
but the Braviary raised a wing a parried the attack with a wing with a loud clang. To his surprise, the Haxorus' hatchet-like tusk hardening upon impact. Anticipating the second swing, the Braviary raised his other wing to block again.
With all of his strength, he pushed back, managing to tip the Dragon off balance, giving him the chance to strike.
<I think I'll cut you down to size!>
With a slash of his wing, the Braviary struck the Haxorus across the neck, and – to his surprise – slicing clean through. The Dragon's head falling cleanly off from the vertical slice, spraying small flecks of gel everywhere.
Unite hadn't expected this. He also didn't expect one of the Skarmory to come out of nowhere and slash him across the back in one quick motion.
<YOW!>
As the now headless Haxorus collapsed to the floor, Unite spun around to retaliate, only for the other Haxorus to slam him with his thick tail while his back was turned.
<BWARK!!!>
The Braviary soared involuntary into the air, soaring up high.
Luke: “Oh no!”
Wanting to try and help as best he could, his trainer rushed after him as he began to come down, holding his arms outstretched.
“I've got you! I'VE GOT YOU!”
Unite: <No you don't!>
Luke: “Yes I do!”
'''Unite: <YOU DON'T!>
Luke: “I DO! I D-ARGH!!!”
The bird crashed into him with a thud, knocking them both to the floor, dazed.
“...Got you.”
