(By the time the knife reaches her chest, Voynich has already left this mortal coil. Wilhelm is looking desperate to leave, but some well-buried sense of honour tells him to stay put.)

-Blitz pauses, but attempts to maintain pressure to stop the bleeding-

Blitz: "Oh, right. That's what you're not supposed to do. I've never actually had to give first-aid before..."

-He looks a little sheepish-

"And It's not like I was gonna try and do it myself"

-Alys calmly wipes the red off of her knife, using her dress. She sits back down on the couch-

Alys: Now, Wilhelm. Have you never experienced emotion before? Not even once?

Salvador: Not enough time to scour building for possible materials.

Salvador places down his stave and starts conjuring up a stretcher construct.

Salvador: As such, this will have to suffice...

Wilhelm: As a child, mostly. They quite frankly disgust me. Why allow these primitive holdovers of our animal past to cloud logical thinking?

-Maria shrugs.-

Maria:I think they called it the Aqua Resort. Jason said there were other members of the team here.

-a gleam goes into Alys' eyes-

Alys: A world dictated by mere logic is a boring one. Emotions make people do rash things, it makes them do interesting things. Really, it makes them do things by their own will, rather than wandering about like robots.

-her grin becomes wolfish-

Alys: Now, Wilhelm Anthony Voynich...

-she raises her voice to a bellow-

-Wilhelm feels everything. He feels the most euphoric joy, he feels the most agonizing misery, he feels fury that feels like he's being torn in two, he feels the most awful, bottom-of-the-stomach fear, he feels the most raging lust, he feels anxiety like he's being eaten alive by ants, and he feels them all at once-

-After helping a rather embarrassed Deziree down from her precarious position...-

Deziree: I had only tested it on stuff that weighed less than a person. ^_^;

-The other attendees all gather around the gift table. Dune takes the first one and reads it.-

Dune: "From the Silph Co. Family to one of its valuable members". Huh, didn't know human resources sent birthday presents.

Jeff the Guard: Wait, they do that now?!

Prof. Mesquite: They do, with a bit of convincing. Go ahead and open it!

-Dune does so, revealing a shiny new P☆DA, labeled to have "EXTRA tough outer shell and improved atmospheric sensory addons!"-

Dune: Oh, hey! I've been meaning to upgrade!

Prof. Mesquite: It's the new "Orran Survivalist" Line. I figured you would appreciate the new bits they through in.

Dune: Yes, I certainly do! Thanks, Professor.

-Dune gives Prof. Mesquite a quick hug before the next box is practically thrown at his head.-

Rachel: This one's mine!

-Dune gives her a sideways glance before tearing the wrapping paper off, revealing...-

Dune: ... Is this a Wii U?

Rachel: Heeheeheeheehee, yep!

Dune: Wow. I, uh, I'm not sure what to say...

Rachel: Huh? Why?

Dune: ... I don't have a TV to play it on.

-Rachel stands in shocked silence for a long time.-

Aunt Liz: Hehehe. Alright, Squirt, here's mine.

-Aunt Liz hands Dune a hefty, wrapped book.-

Aunt Liz: I did some studying into this group of yours and figured you could get some use out of this.

-Dune tests the heft. Someone could definitely get hurt if you swung this hardback around. Maybe it's a book about using found objects as weapons? He takes the wrapping off, revealing...-

Dune: "Unintended Side Effects: A Basic Law Guide to Getting Out of Collateral Damage Suits and Fines".

Aunt Liz: Hey, don't scoff until you've used it. It's legit.

Dune: Uuh... Sure... Okaaaaaay...

-He quietly slips that underneath the Wii U as the second to last present catches his eye. It's labeled to be from Justy.-

Dune: Hm?

-He rips it open, revealing a small TM case filled with a variety of old and new models.-

Justy: What can I say? We find some weird stuff cleaning out the old Pregym storage.

-Dune flips through the disks.-

Dune: Let's see... Zap Cannon, that's always a fun one... Return, Return, Return... You had a lot of Returns, didn't you?

Justy: Why do you think I gave them out to everyone? I still have stacks of the thing.

Dune: Oh, hey, Teleport and Secret Power! Haven't seen these in a while.

Justy: I keep telling the supplier that they need to do a "legacy" run of Teleport. With how popular it is, they'd make tons of cash off of it.

-Dune stashes the TM case in his backpack as he gets to the last, brilliantly pink box on the table. Dune could guess who it was from, considering the Clefable balloon, Clefable wrapping paper, and Clefable gift card.-

Dune: Alright, let's see what Ms. Birthday Fairy got me.

-He opens it up, revealing a pair of fingerless climbing gloves.-

Dune: Oh, well, thank you, Selene! I'd lost my last pair down the line somewhere. Thank you for these new ones.

-Dune's head is Cleffahuggled before he peels her off of his face.-

Dune: Alright, that should be-

-Dune stops as a low, droning whistle catches his ear. Selene's ears twitch.-

Selene: <It's coming from Mount Battle!>

-Dune and Deziree head outside as a streak of smoke seems to arc high into the sky from the Mt. Battle caldera.-

Dune: What the...?

-The arcing object seems to stop... until Dune realizes that the object is now descending. He pulls Deziree inside as the whistling intensifies, until finally a chunk of rock smacks the front lawn with enough force to toss grass and dirt several yards in every direction.-

Dune: ?¿?¿?¿?

-Dune goes out, finding to his surprise that the rock is actually pretty much cooled. He picks up the surprisingly dense, fist-sized hunk and wipes some of the soot off, revealing a yellowish argent sheen.-

Deziree: Is that a chunk of electrum?!

Mt. Battle Caldera

Heatran: <Heh heh heh... I still got it.>

Alys's House

(Wilhelm lets out a hideous, almost inhuman shriek and goes into a fit of violent convulsions.)

Alys' House

-this is sustained for ten seconds before she relents-

Alys: Well?

Alys's House

(Wilhelm lies prone on Alys's floor. He still breathes, but he doesn't appear to have any immediate plans to do anything at all.)

Alys' House

Alys: What I thought.

-she sits up straight, crossing one leg over the other-

I will continue this for a day. At the end, you may leave. What you do is up to you, but...

-smiles-

If my hypothesis is correct, you won't be Wilhelm. You'll simply be a gibbering, useless man living in the forest. We'll see...

-her voice raises to a strident screech-

(Wilhelm tilts his head to stare at Alys. His face, formerly impassive, is now etched with a mania that would make the late Clarice Voynich proud; his voice is practically unrecognisable, a mid-ranged quaver with a pronounced [German] accent.)

Wilhelm: Why do you care?

Alys' House

-Alys shrugs-

Alys: Frustration, mostly. You and Shard were the two people I could never get to. But now I have you with me...

And I will make sure that you will be no threat to anybody when the day is through.

-he is emotion bombed again, for even longer-

Alys's House

(Wilhelm screams again, but rather than drop to the floor, he suddenly lunges for Alys, fingernails bared like claws.)

Wilhelm: IN DER HÖLLE BRENNEN, ZICKE!

Alys' House

-Alys reaches a hand out and grabs Wil by the scruff of his neck-

Alys: Bad.

-she closes her eyes and bombs him again. Rather than every emotion at once, he only feels fear and pain-

Alys's House

(Wilhelm reels back, whimpering like a frightened child.)

Wilhelm: Why...

Alys' House

-Alys grins-

Alys: Because I can.

-sits straight. She would appear for all the world like a psychologist, interviewing a patient-

How do you feel, Wilhelm? Your emotions? Is it worse than you thought?

Alys's House

Wilhelm: I... had forgotten. I now know why. It is... excruciating. Like being... impaled through the cerebral cortex.

Alys' House

-Alys chuckles-

Get used to it, Wilhelm. You'll feel it again, and again, and again, and again, AND AGAIN!

-she bombs more-

Alys's House

(Wilhelm shrieks once more, leaps to his feet, and slams his head against the wall so hard it knocks him unconscious immediately. A trickle of blood now runs down his face.)

Alys' House

-Alys watches-

...hmm.

-she stands, and leaves the room-

-Where has Jason been all day, post-raid? Asleep on a bench in the shade. A Luxio is curled up beside him. The siblings are still about.-
