-A white-haired teenage boy dressed in rather unusual clothing
◊ who was up until this point shielded from view by his Zoroark's illusion steps forward.-
Boy: Do we really live in such barbarous times that citizens can perform vigilante executions so close to major population centres? Step away from your would-be victim and put down that weapon of yours.
??? ...You have no business interfering here. This is justice that you are interrupting, not a-
-The swordsman's protests are cut off mid-sentence by a pained cry as Lucius delivers a Force Palm to their face, breaking their mask into pieces.-
Lucius: Ha! Alright, now that the tables have turned, you're going to answer some of my...
-He stops as he gets a closer look at his assailant, and blinks.-
Lucius: ...Wait... you're a girl?
-The sword's wielder, who is indeed female, around Lucius' age, and still reasonably Bifauxnen even without the mask obscuring her features, scowls.-
???: ...This intervention changes nothing. If ending a bystander is what it takes to ensure that your evil is removed from the world, then I am willing to do just that.
Boy: -smirking slightly- Willing, perhaps, but not nearly as able.
-A pair of Obscuric tentacles burst out from the boy's sleeves, wrapping themselves around the girl and her Scizor before hauling them into the air.-
Scizor: <...I will admit, I was not expecting a complication of this nature...>
???: Gah! How dare you... unhand me!
Boy: ...You really ought to be more careful about your word choice, you know.
-He does indeed release the two - over one of the large ravines dotted about East Road. They promptly plummet out of sight.-
Lucius: Hey, what the hell? I was just about to interrogate them, try and figure out what they were after, and then you go and drop them off a cliff!
Boy: No need to worry, the fall won't kill them. It might break a couple of bones, but nothing more extreme then that. And I would rather place them out of our way and ensure that they are no longer a danger than risk them making another attempt on your life whilst we escort them to the local Ranger station.
-Lucius grumbles as a rather disoriented Kirk gets to his feet.-
Lucius: I suppose that's one way of dealing with things... thanks for bailing me out back there, by the way.
Boy: Not at all, my friend, not at all. I'm not much of a fighter, despite my ability with Obscura, but I couldn't just pass you by and ignore your plight.
-He extends a hand.-

We don't know if she's actually dead or if this is fake and designed to screw with us in general and Zeal in particular. Either way what we do know that guy took Lanie so we have to find him and bring him to justice one way or another, and Zeal needs us so this is no time to give in to our personal despair.
