Add pokemon to that list.
Empire Earth II is pretty good. Although to be fair, I had that game years before EE I.
I thought Empire Earth III was the one everyone hated.

Wind Waker, in the early days when we only had the trailer to go by.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIf you look in comments of youtube videos, people hate II a lot. But yes, even people that liked II hated III. So III is basically Ruined FOREVER taken Beyond the Impossible.

I never got a chance to play Wind Waker (though I suppose I could now, since I have a Wii), but I watched my brother and his fiancee play and I thought it was more cute than infuriating.
online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comPokemon. I've been with it since Red and I open new Pokemon with open Pokeballs. Its boring if I really caught 'em all.
Sonic. I knew Colors would be good. Moreover, I knew a Colors would happen eventually. Sega couldn't screw up but so many times, after all.
Zelda. I liked WW before it even came out. So... yeah.
Street Fighter. My friends cried Ruined Forever when it went to 2.5D. Its fine.
I'm betting Duke Nukem will be, while not the same, just as good as before as well.

Dammit, how could I forget Sonic?
Wind Waker. My first sight of the thing made me go "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! IT'S SO CUTE EVERY ZELDA SHOULD BE THIS AWESOME LOOKING!!!!". Then I played it and realized it was the most awesome Zelda ever.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahTake a wild fucking guess.
Also, Sonic Unleashed. It is mind boggling how much people whined about that game because of the werehog. FFS, color him red and you basically have Knuckles...
Oh yeah that reminds me...Every Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and Sonic game made. Sure I don't play most of the games in these franchises and the ones I do play I don't love and adore but I don't freak the fuck out like some portions of their fandoms.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahDid anyone yell Ruined Forever when Resident Evil 4 came out? If so, that.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."The title is "mostly everone".
Ergo, Resident Evil 4 cannot be an example, because mostly everone loved the hell out of that awesome game.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Aside from what Spell Blade said, Dragon Quest IX.

People did this about DQIX? I just went "Oooooooooooooooooooooh" when I saw it. Same with VIII which I'm sure caused hell within in the fandom for silly things like "not being 2-D" and such.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahBefore it was released, I was mostly seeing complaints about it "not having a main character" (since you can create yours), being able to see monsters (making it easier to farm Metals), and it being a mainline title on the DS.

Yeeeeep. Proof that I would hate the majority of Dragon Quest fandom.
The deal with creating your own main character really doesn't make sense...We've been capable of that in a few of the games just not to the extent of this one. 3 and 4 come to mind. 3 even had you create the whole party...Even when we did have a pre-created main the main wasn't really all that expressive...He...existed.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahPokemon. I didn't care what changes they made each generation.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Hm... One could say Pokemon, but since I left the series for years and only came back to it with Platinum, there is not really much, I could yell "Ruined Forever" for. But I did notice that especially the third generation gets a lot of hate...
Also Wind Waker. Now, I never played it, since I never owned a Gamecube, but the amount of bitching prior (and partly after) it's release was mind-boggling and I never understood why everyone got so worked up by it's graphical style alone.
Also Final Fantasy. Despite my fav being VI, I like XIII very much, a combination which seems to be a crime in the fandom.
Also, I liked the character creation feature of Dragon Quest IX. Considering that I like III, it's no wonder. That's what I don't get, isn't III quite popular in general? Why would they bitch about the charater creation, then?
Also, I seem to use the word "also" a little bit too much...

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I didn't Hate Majoras Mask for not being enough like Ocarina Of Time ore the fact that the Time System was a little dodgey. I also think that Wind Waker is one of the best Zelda Games Ever made (Along with Majoras Mask) despite the criticism for it having "teh kiddeh grafixz".
Also, I loved Pokemon Ruby And Sapphire when everyone else was bitching an moaning about it.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceDespite how much I bitch about third gen it's probably my favorite one.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah... I'm probably going to get a LOT of flack for this.
Metroid: Other M. Sure, the story kinda made no sense at points, but the gameplay was solid and there wasn't a shortage of awesome moments.

First off, I loved Red Alert 3, nothing Ruined Forever about it.
