This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I don't even like the idea of his spider sense giving him precognition. Doesn't really feel very "spidery." Having the spider sense just be super fast reflexes makes more sense aesthetically.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I'm fine with Spider-sense as long as it only reads on what's exactly about to happen. Like 'This guy is about to it you!'It's lame when it's just 'This guy won't act right now, but he still hates your guts, so I'm buzzing anyway. Kick him in the nuts!'
I think I remember reading that it's supposed to be the equivalent of spiders being able to detect subtle vibration on their web.
I've always thought it was one of Peter's more fascinating abilities, but yeah, it's easy to write it as overpowered.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)EDIT: Wrong thread. Ignore this.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I REFUSE!
So now that I've found out there's a comic book store in my city, I want to start reading Spider-man as it's released. I've heard they rebooted it quite recently, but my store doesn't have all the single issues. Does anyone know when the first trade comes out and what it will cover?
It wasn't rebooted, it was relaunched and relies heavily on plotthreads from the previous series. If you wanna get into current Spider-Man, I'd start with the beginning of Dan Slott's tenure. And if you give me a couple of mins, I'll compile a list of trades in reading order for you.
Weeeell rebooted was what I was told by my comic book store person.
I'm not sure if I want to get into the previous run because it looks like catching up from the relaunch is already going to be expensive. What's the point of the relaunch if it doesn't make a good jump on point?
The relaunch has had like, four issues. As for it's purpose? Firstly, money. Issue #1s sell very well. Thematically? The previous end of Amazing Spider-Man had Peter Parker die and Doctor Octopus carry on as the new Spider-Man in the series Superior Spider-Man. Once Superior ended, with Peter coming back, Amazing Spider-Man was relaunced.
I saw up to issue 11 at my store, as well as three 1.x issues I don't understand.
So that's already upwards of eighty dollars to catch up.
Ah you're right, they are up to #11 forgive me. Don't worry about the 1. issues, they are a side story set during Spider-Man's origin.
Well, I jumped right in right after the Superior Spider-Man ended and I haven't had that much trouble following anything. But then, I research every minute detail on the internet beforehand.
However, I'm gonna have to warn you the relaunch isn't the greatest set of Spidey comics ever. *cough cough* SILK *cough cough*
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I don't mind Silk. I think she has potential if you can keep her away from Peter so that dumb hormones thing doesn't act up.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo, does anyone know if there is a trade for the relaunch coming out soon?
There is one out already for the first six volumes.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)Oh, thanks! So that's just issue 1 - 6 and nothing else? Do you know what the trade is called?
The trade is called "The Parker Luck"
And yeah, that's all that's there.

Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)As mentioned earlier, Saiga, some people think it's not very good. I can't really speak to it though as I'm not following it myself.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Well, I have to start somewhere.
So I know these 1.x issues are side stories, but how were they released and do they get collected in trades?
The 1.x issues were released in a trade called "Learning to Crawl". They were done as regular comics before the trade came out, also. Can't say I know what happened in those, though.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)x4 Can someone please get the phrase "Parker Luck" removed from Slott's vocabulary? It's gotten annoying.
Lafayette StrongAssuming he even was the one to decide the trade name.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)Shit, the fact that it was released in October must mean by comic book store sold it out already.
I'm now wondering if I should just buy digital since as far as I can tell it will cost me the exact same as buying in-store and I don't have to worry about missing issues. Nnnnnno wait, I think this is in US price. Damn, 5.99 US for a Digital issue? Aren't their physical releases much cheaper than that?
edit: Actually Marvel Unlimited looks like a pretty cheap option. I guess if I stop subscribing I don't get to keep the issues?
Also, is this Spider-verse stuff contained in the re-launch or is it being told in other comics right now?
The main Spider-Verse stuff you need to know is in the Spider-Man relaunch. Everything else seems to just be side-stories that are there for fun rather than plot importance.

The writers trying to preserve drama in the face of a superpower that kind of makes that hard.
