As per discussion on the image-picking thread for Not so Fast, Bucko! ([1]), this looks like just a more complaint-filled version of that trope. The discussion also mentions the overlap with Disc-One Final Dungeon. While I can see the difference in that case, here it looks like Your Princess Is in Another Castle! is "Not so Fast, Bucko!,but bad."

Yeah, I see no difference between the two. I'd say merge 'em under Not so Fast, Bucko!.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Your Princess Is in Another Castle! brought us 7,479 visitors, Not so Fast, Bucko! had 271.

It might make more sense to merge them under the former.

I rather like this trope's name better than the other one.

[up][up]well, that's because "your princess is in another castle" is a meme — but not a particularly good one to apply in this case. It implies that it's a video game only trope, which it's not (the video game specific version would be Disc-One Final Dungeon).

Rhymes with "Protracted."

It makes sense to me. Not so Fast, Bucko! less so. And it sounds silly. Most people understand Rescue The Princess when they hear it—so "Your Princess Is In Another Castle" raises the connotation that you tried to rescue her—but she's elsewhere.

[up][up][up]As far as I know, it is a famous quote from a famous game, but not really a subject of Memetic Mutation.

[up][up]This. If the reference would be misleading, it would show through misuse. If it would sound video game specific, that would show though an oversized video games section. None of these are true, so we have no reason not to use this to our advantage.

And why does the image say "another dimension"? Has the Memetic Mutation gotten that out of hand?

[up]I dont know really I would like to find a more traditional screen

And yes the name explains the trope alot better than Not so Fast, Bucko!... Rescue the princess is a very typical plot and the name implies that you did all that for nothing.

The only thing I don't quite get is why it doesn't say "OUR Princess is in another castle." As the trope image clearly shows, that's the original wording.

It came up awhile ago, and was decided that it was a Beam Me Up, Scotty! and not different enough to worry about fixing it. I think someoene may have google searched it and came up with more hits that way then the right way.

Isn't Your Princess Is in Another Castle! the older trope page too?

I remember that page from early in my troping career, but I don't recall Not so Fast, Bucko!

[up] That might be true. So, if anything, this trope should stay and NSFB merged here.

Hold on, Shima. Does the crowner say which way we're merging?

The TRS thread for Not so Fast, Bucko! already seems to have come to a consensus on a merge; there's a crowner there right now for which direction the merge should be going in.

132 is the rudest number.

Ok. I'll lock this one then. No point in having the same conversation in two places.
