@Zetral: Fun fact: Scales wasn't the final villain in Dinosaur Planet either, but the real villain who was replaced by Andross(who was not Krazoa btw, though they were in the game too as actual things :P As one of those two races of dickbags I mentioned) and who had supplied advanced technology to Scales. Which I guess Andross did too thought that was really unclear since cutting out that villain pretty much cut out whole story of the game :P Since he was member(iirc) of that other ancient race of dickbags wanting revenge on Krazoa and everyone else

really because super paper mario's plot is pretty well-received now. most people's complaints seemed to be that the hybrid platform/rpg gameplay was not nearly as compelling as either gameplay style and just fell flat.

Actually, thinking about it, while cutting out game's main character(in favor of Fox) and Krystal's story sucked, it sucks harder they cut out original villain in favor of Andross considering how much game makes less sense with Andross and how there wasn't actually even need of having Andross there ._.; The original villain would have fitted Star Fox just as well, at least with cutting out Sabre its justified as part of Star Fox make up and Krystal's things being cutted makes sense since they cut out other important characters from story and wanted more focus on Star Fox stuff... Though it again leaves Krystal rather bland since they cut out everything about her and just stuffed the other main character into a crystal xP

...I still don't understand Krystal's bikini though. What, would have original outfit looked silly in game cube in their opinion? :P

Ah crap, I blame flu X-x; Seriously, my brain is kinda scrambled, I'm not really sure how len morphed into tr, so sorry about that

Regardless of my mistakes, I still want someone to give a good reason to change that outfit into tribal fetish gear, nothing about artstyle changes requires radical outfit changes :P

Ah. Reading your previous post, you may want to come back and try again when you're more coherent. I'm sorry but I only understood about half of what you said.

I get that Miyamoto wants to make a good game, which is why he focuses more on the gameplay. But you can at least find somebody to work on the story on the side?

[up]My point exactly.

However the story should reflect upon the gameplay, not vice versa. That's what they taught me in school.

You also want to go for Gameplay and Story Integration as much as you can since everybody praises that.

One thing I love about what we've seen of Zero is that you can still shoot down enemies during what would otherwise be a cutscene. Just because the camera has cut away to show something else (say, Pigma entering the scene) doesn't mean you have to stop playing.

He seems to have kept forgetting that you can aim with the gyro controls. At least, that's the only reason I can think of for why he kept pointing straight down to shoot those bug things.

Every time I watch video of the Corneria level, I always wonder if they're going to try and go through that sealed door on the right about halfway through. Nobody ever does. It likely leads to a different boss like in 64.

To keep this thread alive, what would your idea of good on foot gameplay be in a Star Fox game? I know that people wouldn't like the idea, but I know that certain gameplay styles aren't inherently bad. If taken to the right hands, it could be really good. Since Platinum games is working on Star Fox Zero, I imagine the on foot combat being almost as over the top as Bayonetta and Devil May Cry (I know Devil May Cry was made by Capcom, but Hideki Kamiya made both games). Remember when Kid Icarus Uprising was going to be a Star Fox game? I could imagine it controlling like KI:U. Only with different characters wielding different weapons. Fox would wield a lightsaber, Krystal would use a staff, Falco could use his wings, and Slippy could be like the engineer from Team Fortress 2, building attack bots. The on foot missions will be more linear like the flight missions.

However, I don't think they should remove flight missions, in fact, I would like some of the flight missions to be bullet hell, near the end.

I think the on-foot missions were fine in Assault although tighter controls would be nice. I'm also unsure how a third-person shooter could ever be made as over-the-top as a stylish hack-n-slash like Bayonetta and DMC.

Call me a fan of those generic shooters, but I wouldn't mind an FPS. Have a good inventory management system with unique enemies and factions. Not too much ammo, but not scarce either. Collect money through Lylat credits or, around Sauria, Scarabs that can be used to purchase lives, weapon upgrades, and unlockable content. Make some coop gameplay too!

On the ground and in the air every character on the Star Fox team is assigned a class.

Leader: Fox, Bill Grey. Versatile class. Effective with Rifles and Submachine Guns.

Heavy Warrior: Falco, Lucy. Focuses on destroying enemies. Effective with Machine Guns and Explosive Launchers.

Engineer: Slippy, [Mouse OC]. More efficient with repairing and hacking devices, as well as showing Boss Health. Effective with Submachine Guns.

Advisor: Krystal, Peppy, [Cobra OC]. Provides passive support to the team. Effective with Sniper Rifles and Shotguns.

Medic: Fay, Amanda. Heals the team, provides repairs to team.

Carrier: Miyu, [Horse OC]. Can carry much more ammo than anyone else, and can provide ammo to other teammates.

I think the hate for on-foot segments mainly comes from Adventures. Assault's on foot sections weren't as bad as people say they are, especially when you can just jump in a Landmaster or Arwing if needed.

The best on-foot segments for Star Fox are the ones that don't exist. Polish up all the various vehicles or add more before adding in TPS sections that would be a better fit in Metroid or Splatoon.

I think having them done by the Battlefront team would make them better, or making them like Splatoon.

So I just learned that Sauria, despite not being recognized by spell checkers and dictionaries, is an actual word. Either the writing staff or the localization team get mad props for this.

I liked Assault's on land segments. A bit of extra polish would be nice, of course, and separating the aiming control options for foot and Landmaster would also be nice. Two stick aiming worked for Fox, who strafes as fast as he runs, but not so much for the Landmaster, which strafes like, well, a tank, in Assault. Either separate the two aiming modes, or improve the Landmaster's sideways movement.

What I'd really like is on-rails Arwing levels that also have you exit at certain areas to fight off enemies and plant a bomb inside a power generator or something.

One thing I'm looking forward to in Zero is that since Nintendo seems to want to emulate 64 as much as possible we'll probably see the return of the classier, more sophisticated Leon. In 64 he was calm and collected, but later games turned him into a raving loon.
