I don't think any of them have.
Metal Gear 1 and 2
Right, I forgot the MSX(or was it MSX 2) was a PC. That should be possible to emulate.
But I remember there being a port of Sons Of Liberty.
"Sweets are good. Sweets are justice."I believe that was to Xbox.
MGS 2 substance has been ported to PC. It's an utter disaster of a port that plays like an emulator without save states, also there's a terrible graphical glitch that's only been fixed by fan made patches. So if you get it look up the glitch first before playing.
It's otherwise a great game, actually quite like Raiden.
No, it was PC as well. The PC version is a port of the Xbox.
Metal Gear Solid 1 has a PC port as well.
I stand utterly corrected.
To sum it up, because all the posts in this thread are horribly disjointed, the official ports include:
MG 1 (based on the NES port and its terrible translation, also quite lacking in sound)
MGS 1 (done by Microsoft of all people, with save-anywhere through the pause menu, no Psycho Mantis Mind Screw and poor forward-compatibility in terms of 3d acceleration cards - you will have trouble running it in hardware mode on anything newer than a Voo Doo 3 chipset)
MGS 2 (done in-house by Konami, with no support for dual-stick gamepads, poor graphical compatibility overall — there are fan patches to rectify the dropped textures for nVidia chipsets and total darkness for aTi chipsets, and also missing the skateboarding game)
You can safely emulate all the other games except for MGS 4, yeah. MGS 3 runs wonderfully fast and pretty pretty on any modern comp00ter capable of running, say, Crysis with decent graphical quality.

Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.Oh god, I can feel the fanrage through this heatwave.
Against all tyrants.I remember when Crysis required a computer "from the future, parachuted from the moon."
"Sweets are good. Sweets are justice."There was also a port of the very first Metal Gear game. However, it wasn't based on the MSX, but the NES version, so it probably isn't really noteworthy.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.The MSX version is better?
Care to explain, I might search it
Well, for one thing, it actually has a Metal Gear.
Metal Gear on the NES, is one of the all time classic porting disasters, to the point where it is considered a seperate, discontinuitied game to the MSX version. Long story short, the translation is shoddy, its glitched up the arse, it leaves out some crucial and cool parts, and the extra parts it has are in general pretty bad.

The MSX version is the original version that ties in with MGS. The NES version of Metal Gear is a Porting Disaster that gets rid of the whole plot and the actual final fight with the titular Metal Gear.

So, I downloaded PCSX 2 for Linux, but have no idea on how to install it. Plus, those guys insist I should "dump" the BIOS from "my PS 2". As it happens, I do own a PS 2 and the game I want to emulate, but they're in another freaking continent... Anyone know how to deal with this?
"Sweets are good. Sweets are justice."Software piracy, naturally. As with all other emulation subjects, it's easily googlable and in a hilariously legally grey area, so sorry, no specific hints.
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Just asking.
