  • When I mean the supernatural world, I mean the one populated by Dean and Sam Winchester in the tv series "Supernatural". The magical elements of the world they live in may seem interesting to you, but would you actually want to live in there with them? Considering that its populated by entities that like to prey on humanity (physically and emotionally) or use them (Dean and Winchester in particular) like cosmic playthings in a giant chessboard (along with the constant resurrections and the use of souls as currency), I don't think anyone in hell (no pun intended) would want to even set foot in the world of Supernatural.

  • The real world, on the other hand, due to the lack (at least in a materialist perspective) of supernatural phenomenon, would be easier to live in because the problems are easier to handle (no cosmic entities or destinies to mess you up, just problems with other people and some natural disasters). However, if there is no supernatural laws governing the real world, that means things like souls or heaven and hell would not exist. If you died you died for real, there would be no magic or spells to resurrect you - death will not be cheap. There's also the possibility that when you die biologically, your being and identity will die with your body (since your thoughts and behaviors are powered by the chemical and electrical processes of your brain)

  • So which would you prefer, the supernatural world where your a cosmic plaything, or the real world where your death will mean the end of your self forever???

You are all my hallucination; created by a demon feeding upon my brain.

I wish I lived in the "real" world, sounds safer.

But why am I telling all of you this? You're just in my head, after all.

The first one, no question. I don't care if it makes me sound like I Just Want to Be Special the Supernatural world would be infinitely more interesting and I would get to do more exciting things.

I'd choose the real world. It's complicated enough without adding magic crap to the mix. And who knows, the supernatural might already exist.

Supernatural. And no, this one does not hold any illusion about getting to be "special" in any way, or that she would like "interesting" things lurking around.

But...sometimes this one thinks that dark and deadly miracle is better than no miracle at all. And this world will be dead to this one once there is no unknown left. The idea of Cosmic Horror and Eldritch Abomination is...comforting...to this one. Because it implies that there are more important things in the world than this one, that everyday banality is not the only thing possible in the world and that my death is of no consequence and can be brushed aside.

I'd probably go with the supernatural option. I have no illusions that I'd be another muggle for some wandering demon to snack on but, providing that the rules of this new world are the same as this one's mythological canon, there's more than a few ways to Take a Level in Badass...if you survive long enough.

If I got to choose to live in the Supernatural world, I'd want to put it off until I could at least watch all the seasons over again.

If I had to be a human either way, I'd definitely pick this world. But if I could be something fairly high on the Sorting Algorithm of Evil, I'd go for it. I wouldn't be a demon or an angel, though - I'd rather not be a part of that fight. I'd be one of the monsters like the shapeshifters and vampires, and I'd be extra careful to avoid attention.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.
