Does anyone knows if it is possible to obtain an uncensored version of this game???

No, the English version of Xenosaga 3 has no unedited version. The blood is gone, and that's the stupid decision they decided to go with.

So, that means that only the third one was only edited???

Edit: What about the DS edition?

IIRC:

Episode 1: Albedo cutting off his head with knives was replaced by tearing off his head with his bare hands (which is even worse IMO). Also, he reached his hand into a lower part of MOMO's body.

Episode 2: Child!Albedo originally blew his head off with a gun. It was replaced by a ball of energy.

Episdoe 3: No blood.

Ahh I didn't know the first two were edited as well.. At any rate, it's the No Blood one that induces a Wall Banger. The other two are reasonable edits.

Huh...this worries me. So if Monado/Xenoblade gets translated, will it be shredded to piece too?

One or two edited scenes isn't really "shred to pieces." The only one that hurt any of the games was removing the blood in the scene I linked.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.

Isn't that bad enough?

What's the point of removing the blood in those scenes? If even a country like japan can handle a bit of blood, is there any reason to edit them for the english release?

I think that the quantity of blood in episode 3 would have warranted an M rating.

...damn ratings. That's all parents care about...they are the true enemies of video games!

How come noone's ever decides to stand up against the ratings system...say it's bullshit, and stop being a pussy.

Do they honestly think 11 year olds will start re-enacting Man Hunt if the ratings system is gone? Same goes for ratings based on sexual contents.

Anyways, my point is even if a country like Japan can show that scene as it is, there shouldn't be any need to censor it in it's western release.

I expect it was done to avoid a Mature rating. I'd blame the ESRB, who ruled that the existence of blood is worthy of an M rating.

Incidentally, Xenosaga is hardly the first nor last imported game to suffer from censorship in order to get a more desirable rating.

EDIT: Ninja'd. Need to type faster...

I actually did a research project several years ago on the ESRB. Believe it or not, they are a small, non-governmental organization with an informal atmosphere. All of their authority is granted to them by retailers, who refuse to carry unrated (or Adult rated) games. (Although some states have laws preventing retailers from selling M rated games to minors).

A quick perusal of the most popular games in America (or at least the ones every complains about being too popular) shows that most of them are M-rated. It just seems sort of odd to me that publishers would want to avoid that in particular.

From Rated M for Money:

""M" rated games are not, in fact, guaranteed hits — only a small percentage of titles sell enough copies to be commercially successful, Not So Different from any other rating or genre in the market. Furthermore, general industry wisdom actually claims "T" for Teen is the most profitable rating, for the same reason that many movies target the PG-13 ratings bracket - these are the highest unrestricted rating of their respective scales, combining the most creative freedom with the broadest possible (if not potential) audience; many developers or publishers have actively restricted levels of violence and/or sexual content in their games order to achieve this rating. "

wtf?! How did a small non-government group of prudes manage to have such a strong grip on the video game industry in the west?! Who funds them?!

The ESRB is a good thing. The game industry agrees to police itself and they don't get the government breathing down their necks. I'd rather have the ESRB ratings and blame the store for selling M games to minors than have all the soccer moms up in arms against the entire game industry now and forever.

I'd rather just tell soccer moms to actually do their job as parents and watch what their kids are playing rather than reading age ratings tbh...

Like...pass out flyers telling parents what their jobs are!

^^True, but I wish the ESRB was less freaking puritanical. The idea that sex is somehow harmful, for example, is infuriating.

Then again, TV and movie rating suffer from the same problem.

The weird part is....Disney had no problems with the Hydra's blood and the violence in Pirates Of The Caribbean...

But those two parts had to be censored in Kingdom Hearts...also, why remove Xigbar's sniper rifle. sad

They never claimed sex was harmful, they just labeled in M. Which is entirely in line with every other rating system in the US.
