If you go in not expecting a 10-times better version of Sonic 3 And Knuckles, and you don't hate every Sonic game after that game, it's enjoyable. I got it because it's a Sonic game, not because it's a sequel to the "best" Sonic game.
Yes, it is a good game. Though, I admit some of it comes down to whether or not you're fan of the homing attack.
But the so-called "physics problems" people complain about in this game are mostly exaggerated, I can almost guarantee you won't run into many physics or motion glitches that will detract from gameplay.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It's really nothing all that special. It's decent, but too married to old school throwbacks.
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" Futurama, GodfellasI guess it is ok. It has so much potential thougt... and didnt really used it, but its a decent game anyway. Just dont expect much.
"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death itself may die."It's not horrible, but I found it rather bland. So bland it annoyed me. I did like the fancy homing attack thing and inclusion of Super Sonic as a normal gameplay mechanic again though.

That said, I like it. It's not quite as good as the classics Genesis titles or Sonic Colors, but it's not a bad game.

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Keep in mind only the first episode is currently out. We will be seeing more Sonic 4 soon.
Those last few posts we neither love, nor hate. They were a resounding "Meh".
While, I'm here, I actually thought that Color was actually pretty bland. More of a tech demo than a stand alone game. It was better than Wii Unleashed, but far beneath HD Unleashed. I'm hoping for something more fleshed out for the 20th anniversary this year.
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" Futurama, GodfellasEh, I can't say I agree with this. In fact... frankly, I just can't stand either versions of Sonic Unleashed anymore.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I just think that Colors is kind of a step backwards. Outside of the voice work and characterization, I cannot claim much of an improvement. Sure, some things are more refined, but the story, menu screens, near lack of any actual 3D action, and lack of anything to do other than run around the levels over and over again take it down for me. It all feels so artificial. Like the designers were less about having fun than bowing to fan demand. It just seems like a goofy "filler" episode that got a lot of popularity for some reason.
I don't hate the game, but it's no miracle and certainly not worth the $50 price tag.
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" Futurama, GodfellasHuh. Well, Your Mileage May Vary, I guess.
Back on topic, how about that Sonic 4...

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I just got it, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I was kind of waiting for more episodes to show up before getting started so I would have more to play. How long is it anyway?
Disregarding the Chaos Emeralds, one can beat Episode 1 in about ninety minutes.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Sonic 4 isn't even done yet. Episode 1 is overpriced but definitely not a bad game, just that it comes under scrutiny for not being what some fans want.
It's a good game. It just fails to deliver on its promise of being like the classics, since it uses a modified version of the Sonic Rush physics engine.
I'd buy it on a disc, but I'm not gonna DL a sequel to a game on Mega Collection if it can't be copied, carried over, or covered by warranty. That said, I hope they make it a disc-purchaseable game once all the episodes are released.
Now posting as Enzeru, this serves as an emergency avatar backup accountI don't know about you, but "physics problems" I have with Sonic 4 are simply that they aren't as good as in the genesis Sonic games. One thing that really irritates me is the lack of momentum. Unless you're on a steep slope, if you stop pressing forwards you stop really fast. In the older games you could curl up into a ball at decent speeds and roll through a lot.
Granted, I still like the game, but it bugs me.
^ That's pretty much the only problem I noticed with great effect, mostly because it took me a minute to get used to the fact that rolling around was less effective than running this time around - though that's less of a "physics problem" as much as a mechanics choice - possibly to stop the player from being invincible all the time without resorting to even more spike-traps than they already used.
Technically, it's even more physically realistic, though that doesn't really matter in the Sonic world, given that the spin dash itself is a violation of lots of laws of physics.
But I'm just saying, I had a friend who said the game was RUINED FOREVER because Sonic takes a second longer to reach top speed, or tons of people who chide the game for being mechanically inferior to the old games, while citing things that were around in the old games and, just like back then, didn't really have an effect on gameplay and were just funny quirks.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.^I just don't get that. That third zone had rocking music, and have you seen Deck of Cards? Just wow.
Now posting as Enzeru, this serves as an emergency avatar backup account^ Er... what exactly are you responding to?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Sonic Fanbase tend to exaggerate all,
They say that Unleashed is retarded because it have gimmicks
I would have preferred they called it Sonic Rush 3.
It's not a bad game; I just don't particularly care for it.
I draw this comic-like thing sometimes.
My friend's about to get it for the Wii and he asked me this. I have never played Sonic 4 before, so I ask you guys: is it worth it?
