I assume its because they don't like seeing 60 card decks for some reason?

For reference, I put together a 60 card Shiranui Zombie deck. The keys to the deck are Chaos Zone, Fairy Tail Snow and Necroface.

I argue that it more Fairy Tail Snow that making people hate 60 card Decks.

What is wrong with Fairy Tail Snow?

It's just an annoying monster that happens to be a level 4, making it great for synchro and xyz plays while also blocking 2 attacks (change one monster face down, anyone else needs to attack it if they want a direct hit). Many games have been lost due to a snow hiding in the GY.

Considering Shiranui's whole thing about banishing and graveyard effects, she does set off a lot of them, and now that I think about it, she's probably one of my most valued cards.

Duels where she is in the graveyard just run smoother.

There's also how she sets up Gren Maju really, really nicely.

Hell yes Noble Knight support

...Not that it does a whole lot, sadly. I mean yeah, a quick-play that can equip any equip-spell from the deck is useful, but it's not exactly the anti-tribute support they could really use. And knowing Konami, any future support is five years away now. Loving the artwork, though.

Ladies and gentleduelists, Perfectly Ultimate Moth is actually now potentially viable.

With bonus appearance by Relinquished's Mega form.

I'm pretty sure there's still better cards than Perfectly Ultimate Bunghole to use with that.

I think the bigger thing is that "Eyes Restrict" is becoming an archetype. With a couple of quick effects. Oh dear, they could be good.

[up] Obviously there are better cards to use with it, but that's clearly what Konami wants you to use with it.

Considering the set it's in, which also contains support for other Weevil Underwood and Bandit Keith cards in addition to Pegasus cards, I think it might have other options in mind.

I was just reworking a deck around Level 4 DARK Machines and thinking what kind of support could make it viable, and then this and Gun Dragon support come out. I was thinking the deck could benefit from a field which adds a negation effect to DARK Machine monsters that destroy cards. Maybe they'll actually do it. (This was one of my earliest decks, which used Reactors, KA-2 Des Scissors and Blast Sphere, who are also referenced in the Bomb Spider card name and art)

In news that seems... irrelevant to most here?, the OCG list got updated. And it's a doozy.

Newly Forbidden:

  • Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King
  • Dragonic Diagram

Newly Limited:

  • Tribe-Infecting Virus
  • Aleister the Invoker
  • Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter
  • Souleating Oviraptor
  • Babycerasaurus
  • ABC-Dragon Buster
  • Denglong, First of the Yang Zing
  • Terraforming
  • Spellbook of Secrets
  • True Draco Heritage
  • True King’s Return
  • Trickstar Reincarnation

Newly Semi-Limited:

  • Summoner Monk
  • Windwitch – Ice Bell
  • Maxx “C”
  • Pot of Avarice
  • Future Fusion
  • Fossil Dig

Newly Unlimited:

  • Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer
  • Witch of the Black Forest
  • Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
  • Rescue Cat
  • Burial from a Different Dimension
  • Fire Formation – Tenki
  • Preparation of Rites
  • Saqlifice
  • Domain of the True Monarchs
  • Wavering Eyes
  • Dragon Ravine

Probably some clarifications on why the list is like this. True Draco Dinosaurs won worlds and were at an extremely high percentage. To the point it was hard to find other decks, as well as the fact newer product just cannot stand up to the older stuff. Power creep went too far, and Konami dialed it back. Qlis, Relinquished, and Burning Abyss are all getting new Link monsters, hence their stuff moving up. Also why Dante is kept at 1. That also explains Wavering Eyes, but it's not nearly as powerful during Links since the amount you can summon is still fairly low even with a good setup. On average, 2-3 Pendulums at best. Ravine was clearly based upon Terraforming's position(I also happened to predict that Ravine will never hit 3 till Terraforming hit 1, although that was more for the TCG list, but eh). ABC-Dragon Buster was extremely powerful and the second Union Hangar went to 2 the deck dominated quite a bit again. So they decided to hit is more properly. As for Domain, Monarchs aren't doing anything over there anyway. Avarice almost never sees play, so it's being moved up because of underuse. Which makes a bit of sense for them. Not that I agree with it, but eh. As for Sorcerer, he's actually quite a bit less deadly than Joker, who is far faster. The idea is that they are trying to hit faster searchers a bit more often than ones that either have a cost or limitation. While it's true Scout is at 3 again(and was for a while now), that has a legit cost but also needs multiple copies or unique stuff to work well. Due to Links, it's not like they can super easily summon 2 copies for a Nova > Infinity play, so Wavering Eyes' strength is a bit overrated(do note the card is still a powerful tool due to stopping the opponent's pendulums). Finally, Trickstar Reincarnation. Ignoring the fact it's actually pretty overpowered on its own merits, with 2 copies, you can easily set off Droll & Lock Bird to empty the opponent's hand entirely. By having 1 copy, it's far harder to pull off this combo. It also makes sense Reincarnation got hit, due to its own ridiculous effect. A better version of Royal Tribute with no cost(bar being a trap) or condition isn't exactly healthy for the game.

And Tribe is basically yet another mediocre card coming back. It's still funny that the TCG got Raigeki back first. But yeah, there's no way to abuse Tribe. There's decent plays, like going into Shark using Tin Goldfish, but that's only if you have prior setup first(and Gofu is limited there, and Norden is banned, so good luck with that).

New ban list for the TCG. I didn't think the True Draco stuff would already be hit since they were only out for a few months.

Good god I have really lost touch with current events if goddamn Emeral somehow deserves a ban.

It's probably because they want to kill the Zoodiac combo with fire.

That, and reusing multiple copies of Emeral was a pretty stupid combo to begin with. Overkill compared to a limit, imo, but understandable.

Pretty good list. I'd like to have seen a Terraforming limit too, same with Master Peace, but they went a more unique route. I never was bothered by Master Peace to begin with, nor Drident, but eh.

Anyway, I finally got my Wavering Eyes back. Now my, albeit Traditional, Quest 64 deck can work well again. Or at least a new potential idea. Love the Rabbit unlimit. Odd Exciton Knight didn't go to 1 considering the reprint, but it's not like it was a major errata update, just a simple PSCT as is. I'm glad Dark Hole and Slumber went to 1. I never liked them above 1 at any given time. Felt like too much free destruction or destruction with benefits. Dark Hole was likely a hit to the Yang Zing engine, or at the very least to True Dracos who can simply use it like an easy Raigeki due to their card's various immunities.

I think there are more cards that could've come off the list like Bottomless Trap Hole and Compulsory, but I would've especially liked to see Ignister and the Monarch cards come off, or at least go to 2.

They weren't going to honestly come off the list till Harpie's Feather Duster or Heavy Storm gets unbanned. Backrow unless it's battle only is kept at 1 to ensure that players can't be overwhelmed by it. And being Solemn Strike is at 3(which may not be for long, but to be fair, they need to sell COTD SE which has it in it), monsters are not feasible for consistently taking care of backrow. In addition, neither is stuff like MST/Twin Twisters anymore. They're good, but players can play way more backrow than people can pop. A lot of decks actually do play quite a bit of backrow in general. And it's not all traps either.

The point of the limits on those is to keep going second something to actually be worth doing. The only solution at this point that's feasible in Denko Sekka, which is a floodgate and even easier to protect due to Honest(bar using Moon Mirror Shield), and she can be stopped with Chaos Trap Hole or Solemn Warning, although only the latter sees much play. Spam decks could feasibly bother with Horn of Heaven, but it's not really done thanks to Links making it harder to keep a huge field out. Resources matter a bit in this game.

I do hope we eventually start seeing a meta where people don't need to play a lot of backrow to keep up, but the new list should possibly help. My Body As A Shield no longer is needed at 3 with Dark Hole, Raigeki, and Slumber at 1(where they all should be, imo). Players now can stick with the battle traps and still win. True Dracos lost a lot of grind power, meaning they can't just recycle and easily come back. This is an important hit to them. I think Jar of Avarice may see significant more play, though.

On another note, I had a feeling Daigusto Emeral was getting a hit soon. It was either limit or ban. Limit kills every loop related to it(but you can still recycle it with Jar of Avarice, so it's not that great of a move to solely limit it), but a ban ensures decks can't recycle at high speeds. Jar of Avarice might start seeing a price spike now.

I honestly enjoyed using True Draco so as to get around those atrociously long Link Summon turns.

Fucking Konami and their obsession with trying to force us to like Links.

Anythin I should be aware of in the current meta?

Well, Spyrals are going to be far bigger now than before(not that they weren't making a splash. But at least the TCG has more playable decks than the mega nuke the OCG did, so they won't be completely dominating).

True Dracos are hardly dead, and Zoos are simply nerfed enough to be a lower tier, but can still be played. If they had Drident, they could stay more in the meta, but they don't.

Heroes might make a comeback, but who knows. Dino Rabbit could become rogue at this point, but the lack of TGU makes the combos less consistent. Plus, 1 Warning and 2 Rai-Oh isn't enough at this point. I'd still side/main some Kaiju to be safe. Other stuff of note is Cosmic Cyclone to quickly remove annoying floodgates, although Laggia clearly could become annoying. Thankfully a single copy is very easy to bait. Likewise, with Links, they'll be lucky to have two ED monsters out at once at any point. 101 and Castel might be worth maining again(siding was often a decent idea depending how much space you had).

Floodgates are still very useful depending your builds. Imperial Iron Wall, Mistake, Mask of Restrict, both Imprisoning Mirrors. I've found Kaiju to be way too common, so I always keep a Restrict in the main deck. Mistake probably is worthwhile doing so too, mostly due to the chainable nature of it. Also, Paleos may be a big deal again, although a simple Denko and Jinzo can really hurt that deck. If you don't have Denkos, go with Jinzo. Getting it out shouldn't even be an issue at this point in the game.

Gem-Knights might see a bit of play with Rabbit back at 3, though. I don't think Monk will matter to most people, but it's still a pretty nice option for getting out Rank 4's, Level 8, and Level 6 Synchros. To note, there's a Level 4 Tuner that is treated as Level 2 if used for a summon outside of its own archtype. Can't remember the name at the moment, though. Apologies.
