Because face-down cards have no effects.

These past two days I've been dueling on YGOPRO online. I've had some great moments with my Red-Eyes Hermos Critias and Hieratic Blue-Eyes Critias decks

Some highlights

Red-Eyes vs Nekroz

• nope'd a Gungnir with Herald of Arc Light, leaving the opponent wide open for double Red-Eyes direct attack (Vanilla and Gemini), leaving them at 200 LP and ending my turn by overlaying for Flare Metal. Opponent STILL tried to play their turn.

Critias vs Super Heavy

• we were both topdecking at the end, but I topdecked Tyrant Wing, Crush Card and two Fangs several turns leaving me with Tyrant Burst and Doom Virus

Red-Eyes vs Red Nova Resonators

• opponent summoned Red Nova early (turn 4) and ran over my Black Dragon Archfiend
• Dragon's Mirror into First of the Dragons at turn 11 saved me, combined with constant Red-Eyes via Return and Flare Metal and Protector of the Shrine
• opponent later summoned ANOTHER Red Nova. Both had 6000 plus ATK
• I Castel'd one Red Nova
• I was hoping to topdeck Claw of Hermos so I could summon Dragon Sword to just run over Red Nova (I had quite a number of Dragons in the grave, plus the 3-4 I had on field at all times, plus his two Red Novas on the field, plus his Red Dragon Archfiend in grave.
• opponent summoned Beelze on turn 20
• I almost forgot about my Tyrant Wing on the field until Beelze landed. Then I used Tyrant to boost my Flare Metal to 3200. I attacked Beelze, opponent tried to use Red Nova to negate the attack, starting the Flare Metal Beelze burn loop for game.

Critias vs HER Os

• my Fangs were apparently at the bottom of my deck so I was basically just using Hieratic Blue-Eyes
• opponent got Contrast out and kept negating my stuff. For some reason they kept trying to negate my Azure-Eyes...on THEIR turn. Which lead to their downfall when they used Contrast's negate effect on my Azure-Eyes on their turn leaving them wide open to Mirror Force.
• next turn I summoned another Blue-Eyes in addition to one I had previously on the the field, along with Azure-Eyes. Opponent surrendered.

Red-Eyes vs Dragunity Stardust

• opponent surrendered after I Big Eye'd their Stardust...twice

Red-Eyes vs Lightsworns

• 5-turn curbstomp as the opponent bricked their opening hand with two Solar Recharges, two Monster Reincarnations and JD, with only Rainbow Kuriboh as a paltry defense.

Tag Duel: Red-Eyes and Nekroz Draw vs Yosenju and Exodus Draw.

• my partner drew half their deck before just ending the duel with my Red-Eyes monsters via direct attacks on turn 7. If I hadn't checked the replay and saw Nekroz Cycle in their hand I never would have guessed they were trying Nekroz.

Of course, I had my losses to Trains, Heralds, Qli, Nekroz, Red-Eyes and others. Especially when trying out other decks like Empowered Legendary Dragons, Dragonecro and Monarch.

More Normal Pendulum support

Soooooooo

Played a match against Shaddolls using a new troll deck.

• Round 1 - lost
• Round 2 - opponent surrendered after staring down my three Beelze with an open field
• Round 3 - opponent tried to stall me with Shekinaga. I had Beelze. I summoned Flare Metal. Used Shien's Spy to give Beelze to my opponent. Used Flare Metal to attack one of their set monsters. Opponent activates Mirror Force. Hilarity ensues.

Could anyone point me towards a decent Sylvan build? Also could someone explain the combo too >.<'

Odd-Eyes new cards vs. Madolche.◊

Meteorburst actually makes the Madolches stay in the graveyard, also, I am really liking the new support. It makes the deck very consistent.

The thing about the the Sphere Mode Ra is that... it just makes Ra suck less. But outside of that, I'm still trying to work on a Horus/Ra/Future Visions/Kaiser Colosseum troll/lockdown deck. Anyone know any other cards I should look at? Horus trolls spells, and certain other cards troll monsters, but I still need to limit monster effects and traps.

Any suggestions on how to improve my troll burn deck? It's based around summoning Beelze and Flare Metal, then giving Beelze to my opponent so that they trigger the burn loop that beats them.

Majesty's Fiend and Jinzo are good options, though it sounds like they might not be ideal for your deck.

I was trying to avoid using Jinzo, actually... in fact, I was kind of going for forcing players to have no more than 2 monsters on the field at once. Effect Veiler works, though.

I wonder when info on the new banlist will come out.

The more I think about it, I don't really need to lock down everything. My decks just start as lockdown decks, that's my nature. If I've got Horus and Kaiser Colosseum, a large portion of my opponent's deck is locked down already.

Someone tried to troll me during one of my test matches with my Odd-Eyes deck. My response was to search for G La DOS quotes.

Also, my first win against BA.◊

If not for the fact that my deck is well build, this card is perfect for my Berserk Fury deck. And such a great name.

Well, I'd say my Level 1 deck performs pretty well.◊ It was mostly nicked from someone on Reddit, but I feel like I've changed it enough to make it my own.

This guy gets props for summoning Thor.◊ And for being a good sport when I filled the field with dragons

I decided "screw Ra", and actually, the refocusing may just be enough◊. I was able to sufficiently troll Gem Knights for a while, and likely would've won if I didn't lag out, because between Veiler and Grand Mole returning from the field, I could troll whatever he sent out on his last turn.

But what's more important, having a Horus deck is fun.

How the hell did I ever overlook that thing.

Man, this was an exhausting one. He used a Clownblade Empowered Volcanic deck.◊

Its amazing (and slightly disturbing) how many Clownblade Variants are being made.

And just as well infuriating, so many damned "professionals".

In my attempts to go up against more uncommon decks, I've actually gone up against two basic The Last Warrior From Another Planet decks. Given my recent fun in making a Horus deck and a Superheavy deck, I'll give that one a shot next. The Forbidden cards make it easier to get a good lockdown off, but with Last Warrior and Royal Decree, I just need to watch out for my opponent's spells. I'll need to look into what can do that.

I do still need to finalize my Horus deck, though. Also, test my Spellcaster lockdown deck.

...I like lockdown.

Well, some good lockdown cards right now are Lose 1 Turn, Vanity's Emptiness, Djinn Release of Rituals, Nekroz of Unicore, and Fossil Dyna. I'd look into trying out Spell Canceller if Horus Level 8 doesn't come out often enough for you.

The game is full of lockdown options. Also, Dark Simorgh + Anti-Spell Fragrance is a must. Not too hard to summon either since getting a Dark and Wind available shouldn't be a hard task(it's a fairly great card if you run a Harpie/Blackwing hybrid). Besides that, you do run Deck Lockdown, right?

Have you ever been curbstomping your opponent so bad that you occasionally feel like giving them 1 free turn out of mercy to let them try and mount a resistance, cos the curbstomp was bordering on boring?

Nick, I doubt they're "clownblade decks". Clownblade is just an exceptionally splashable Rank 4 engine. I use it in Heraldics and I still call my Heraldics "Heraldics".

Oh, I've got plenty of lockdown decks that use the various tools.

Yep. Especially when my banish deck was in its heyday. "Actually, I could've ended this duel with D.D. Dynamite 5 turns ago, I just wanted to see what you'd do."

Basically, he sounds and acts way more British than I do, but I am the one who is actually English.

I'm English by birth! Hence the "Lord British" in my title. That, and the card.

Alright, some inspiration has gotten me ready to test several of my decks.

• My "Last Warrior" deck has become a Last Warrior/Water hybrid, meaning I'm actually going to try some of the heroes that irk me so much. It actually looks like it'll be a pretty fast deck, but it's surprisingly low on monsters. Still, there's plenty of cards to draw out what I need, which is part of what makes it so fast.
• My "Jurassi Cage" deck (Dinosaur/Colosseum) seems more playable now, but I'll need to give it a shot. It seems to support both inflicting battle and effect damage.
• Other decks also need a test. I just haven't felt like testing my Spellcaster deck yet.

Wander, why aren't you using Lord British Space Fighter as your avvie, then?
