I just realised; a character in control of the elements has access to some fairly phenomenal powers. For example, fire. Can you imagine using fire in a strategy game? Or in a crowded area like a city; imagine Grand Theft Auto, but with magic; one well-aimed fireball into the centre of a busy city and you have one guy running into another, then the two of them run into four other people, one of them dives into a restaurant, setting it on fire, and soon several city blocks are ablaze. There's this potential for cartoonish supervillainry combined with Rule of Funny physics. And thats just fire. Think of the oft overlooked element of nature. Spawning tentacle monsters, making trees come alive, gain a taste for meat, before sending them off to devour armies, making the grass suddenly morph into spikes and shooting out to impale passersby... spawning packs of dire koalas on your enemies faces... the possibilities are endless. I mean look at Infamous; fry your enemies with lightning, bring them back to life and then fry them again for giggles!

There's a lot of potential for the elements and superdickery related mayhem. Strategy game featuring a mage as commander perhaps?

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.
