On-Topic: Apparently, Keith's contract says he can't appear on any other programs until the contract expires in 2012. I'd pretty much guarantee that he'll be back on the air somewhere before or immediately after that point, though...
So, what do you think is next for Keith Olbermann?

Yeah sure but a) personal myopia, everyone gets their personal competence bubble where they think they would totally not be screwing things up and b) actual military training means you'd be right but everyone else would be wrong.
So...
the actual solution is to have a Barkey everywhere. Guns are out, private military contractors working a "local corner shop" model are in.
But back on topic- O'Donnell's tact with the question shows its own quality beyond the topic. Really actually, I'm terribly dissappointed in you Barkey, you should have recognised that the actual topic pointed out in "especially after his yelling about magazine sizes" is the yelling. He largely wouldn't have the choice of topic. "Hey, a gunman killed a half dozen people in Arizona." "Yeah but I want to talk about Young Earth Creationists..." -not happening.
Anywho, the style of the questioning is the chief quality in his favour in that it was classic Paxmanesque soundbite killer where constant badgering reveals that the pre-screened non-answer they practised is in fact rather weak. The actual technique might not be good for the new show but rather the underlying implication of a good rhetoric filter.
My first jump would have been about the lack of security for the Senator and the issues that caused Loughner to do what he did in the first place, which is what most folks seem to be thinking about, not using it as an excuse to tighten the noose on firearms further. I won't have a high opinion of any newscaster who makes the leap of "OMG GLOCK MAGAZINES ARE TOO BIG!" instead of the actual topic at hand. Even Olbermann wouldn't have made that leap of logic.
I could care less about everyone else, I don't want to lose my ability to take care of myself because other people suck.

Business or Controversy or stuff?
From what I've heard, Keith and his boss Phil Griffin HATED each other. Phil wanted complete editorial control of Keith's show and Keith wasn't willing to give him that. Especially since the changes Phil wanted to make were to make it less bombastic and stop pointing out when Fox hosts did something offensive. Or in other words, Phil wanted to get rid of the main reasons people watched Countdown.

Going after Fox News hosts instead of actual issues?
Keith's issue is how Fox News can pretend to be a news company :P
They do still deliver news, you can usually trust their reporting on current events that don't have a political bearing.
If you're one of the Americans that can tell the difference.
I do not understand why some viewers get so worked up about certain channels being inclined in a particular ideological direction. "X Channel is bad because it is biased in favour of X Party" seems like an incredibly stupid argument to me. The people one might try to convince with this kind of infantile assertion are not likely to be convinced by it, simply because they believe that the bias is a good thing.
Honestly, it doesn't make any sense to me, because there is really so little at stake.
I'm sure Keith just hates Fox because of how retardedly powerful it is.
