Man, Steven Universe and Chuubo's were made for each other.
Regarding the latest episode, "We Need to Talk", Inari was right, Rose might have loved humanity and how fun they are but she sure showed a lot of difficulty in actually understanding it. It really seemed like the kind of block an Imperator would have to understanding them - which makes sense, because she and the Gems were never human to begin with.
Steven: (sneezes)
Peridot: WHAT IS THE STEVEN DOING IS THIS SOME STRANGE HUMAN WEAPON GET IT AWAY FROM ME (turns fingers into key points on bubble and rolls away like giant hamster ball)
Edit: Stevenbomb spoiler: Hilariously, I had just been noting on Steven that he'd never used the dream-based powers of Sentimental, when along came an episode built entirely around him gaining them. Either someone on the show is secretly running their own SU Chuubo's game or we have just had a very weird coincidence.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.If you run SU Chuubos, I will totally play in it. ... If it's an IRC game. You saw my track record with PB Ps... >>
I ship it.Alas, the things that make full-scale IRC impossible for me have not gone away and have in fact gotten somewhat worse in the last six months.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Shit yeah, that's totally Haunt. And Steven gaining Lapis as one of his Treasures makes a lot of sense.
What happened, Dorku? If that's okay.
I ship it.It's nothing serious. Just that my father's retired now, meaning that he's around the house a lot more, and he's always had this annoying aversion to people spending more than two hours at a stretch on computers.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Aah... that's kinda balls, man. Not able to move out?
I ship it.Not at present, no.
I mean, I guess I could do a two-hour session (probably not G Ming though, unless nobody else is willing), but if there's one thing I've learned it's that trying to arrange a multi-person meetup online is like herding cats even if all participants are in the same time zone, so I dread to think what it's like when they're all over the world.
Edit: Also, because I know everyone on this site is a born nitpicker, playable statblocks draft. Steven is at least 60% based on Inari's, and Garnet being on Creature of Fable rather than Creature of Light was pointed out on rpgnet by the GM of my Chuubostuck game.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Neat! But I'd cut down on the Become Somebodies, myself. I don't know how I feel about Amethyst's build, but I feel like Wounded Angel works a lot better for Lapis than her. I mean, having water wings and being able to manipulate the water of all the planet's ocean into a giant pillar so you can reach the sky seems something you could do more with Empowered-Wound derived powers than something to reasonably do with Spiritual.
Holding back Jasper with Malachite also reminds me a lot of Leonardo's Holding Up the Sky, so there might be a connection there.
Yeah, I know there's a ton of Become Somebody. (Believe me, there was originally more! The low-level tiers are just so easy to fit to almost any character!) It's why the Knave of Hearts Steven and Allegory Pearl variants are there; I figure that Peridot and Jasper won't be making too many appearances in actual play, but you will have people fighting over the core Gems, Connie and Lapis.
Lapis does show other water powers - she opens a path for herself, conjures chains from the water and so on - plus, I couldn't think of anything else Amethyst could really have. The Leonardo one was the parallel I was trying to draw with Lapis's "Lost -> Subservient" power, though; I was tempted to mention "Holding up the Sky" as a possible Imperial version that Lapis could use if she reached Wounded Angel 2.
Hm. For the second version, I might cut Jasper's and put in Witness 1 instead (edit: or The Ace 1), and switch Pearl's normal and variant versions to put her solidly on cut-down Allegory as a default. That'll leave only Steven and Peridot, meaning that Accursed will become overly common instead.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.That's some good stuff right there. Only thing I'm wondering about right now is if Connie should be so oriented around fairy tale stories, and even then, I don't think it's a huge deal.

That's a good point. I still think she's on Specialist, but I need a better Skill to base it off - open up the option for "Overhand Death Strike", for example. Anyone got a suggestion?
(I will quite possibly defend her having Knave of Hearts to drag people into her fandoms until I die, though.)
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.I'm not sure at the moment; maybe something to do with Heroism? For now, I think the current build works.
I'm kind of wondering if there's a build of her with some Otherworldly Arc or maybe Storyteller.
I think I know: I'll make her Specialty something more like "Swordplay" or "Warrior's Heart" and give her a Plot Device about adapting non-swordplay techniques to swordplay.
And the problem with current Otherworldly and Storyteller arcs is that they don't really fit, unless she's like Rinley and has just started Creature of Fable - she's not above it all like Creature of Light, she doesn't really have an "element" except by squinting a lot, she doesn't turn into a monster or have minions, and the place she's being Called Away to is the same world as in the first place. It'd work great as an Arc if one had powers to fit.
(By the same token, Pearl really wants a Sickly Knight arc that is not Reality Syndrome!)
Edit: Also, I just realised: the Chuubostuck game I'm in just turned 2. I wrote some plot summaries of the first two "Acts". (much later edit: fixed link)

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Okay. Barring Jenna releasing a Miraculous Arc tomorrow that just makes me go "oh yes now we have something for Amethyst", or someone comes up with a better statblock, these should be the final stats:
Pearl (now with Accursed 2/Allegory 1)
Connie (now with broader Specialty)
Lapis Lazuli (now with two different options depending on relative Wounded Angel weight)
Peridot (now with even less dignity)
Jasper (now with Creature of Fable 2/Witness 1)
I...am seriously contemplating starting a Steven Chuuboverse game on rpgnet, especially if I can find someone else to HG. It'd be a shame to put all this "work" into it and never do anything with it.
Edit: Recruitment thread for it.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Long story short: EOS are slime and Jenna seems to be under some curse when it comes to having her stuff printed properly. On the bright side, POD at cost for everyone who tried to get the full version.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.EOS is lame and bad and terrible.
Side note: I was thinking about it earlier, and Pearl using Allegory really does work out surprisingly well. It lets her compete with miracles if she's doing it for her, gives her a failing of Loyalty... etc.
I was talking to some friends and we agreed that the proper course of action in this situation is to dispel the curse plaguing Jenna. I don't think any of us really believe in magic, but we figure doing a fake ritual to dispel a fake curse ought to be alright.
I really want to support Jenna as much as I can.
EOS seems to be /slightly/ less shitheads than before, at this point... man, I wasn't going to show up to the ritual, but now that I know it's you guys, I just might.
I ship it.That Steven Chuuboverse game over on rpgnet is starting after the weekend (local time). Our lineup is:
- Anatase/New Mum, a walking causality glitch who spent centuries roaming the outer segments of the warp network;
- Apatite/Evil Mum, a reskin of Peridot who is trying (and usually failing) to be a better person;
- Olivine/Bug Mum, a former Centipeetle who is basically a big ball of issues, worries, neuroses and bug powers, and who is our voice of reason;
- Mystic Topaz, our Steven stand-in, who is a blasphemous experiment redeemed through the sacrifice of Rose Quartz;
- Greg as played by John Hodgman;
- and Connie.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.My hardcopy arrived today. It is a thing of beauty.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Post pics!!
I do not, at the moment, have a decent camera.

On reflection, I think Peridot's powers are all Specialist, based on Sci-Fi Engineering; she doesn't really have the leadership stuff of Self-Made, just the minions. Her Plot Device categories are "Techno-Fingers" (letting her do things like the Peridoflcopter) and "Robonoid Minions".
(I'm working on a full collection of statblocks, but I'm going to hold off uploading it until the Stevenbomb is over. I've already had to significantly revise my ideas about Pearl, Connie and Peridot because of it!)
