I just want to know why the kid had a cockney accent.
Probably going with what's in the stage musical - the musical was written and first performed in Britain, I think.
It was written in French first, and then translated (and made awesome) into English.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. Are you saying that the musical wasn't awesome before it crossed the channel? I object to that. There are several parts of the musical that work much better in the original French production, especially the lyrics.
Unrelated to the entire discussion, I really liked the scene in the movie where Jevart and Valjean have sword duel while each says their philosophy at the same time, it felt so...poetic. The ultimate philosophical clash as they sword-fight, redemption vs absolute justice in words and fists.
Also "You know nothing of Javert/I was born inside a jail/I was born with scum like you/I am from the gutter too!"
Unrelated but yes, Russel Crow's singing really grew on me somehow. By the end the phrase "Let him answer to Javert" [which seems to practically be his Catchphrase, as he says that in almost every scene] got stuck in my head.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Yeah, the lyrics do flow better, and I haven't listened to all the songs in French, but a lot of it just seems grander, and more epic in English.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Honestly, I don't even hate Russel and Hugh's singing in the film
But man, are they somehow way better live than in the actual film
Only seen the 2012 movie twice. Really like it though. Samantha Barks was robbed.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBoth this and The King's Speech made me think Tom Hooper could do a Bond movie. After Cats though, not sure anymore.
Talented cast here and I love the ending as well.
YouTube Poops have made the already hilarious "AND I'M JAVERT" even funnier.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectI mean, Hugh Jackman is kinda the epitome of a "song and dance man" and Russ Le Roq had professionally released albums. It's more a statement on the film that they were so bad in it than on them.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I have personally always liked Russell Crowe's Javert, not even in an ironic way, but genuinely.
It's been 3000 years…I definitely want to watch this movie again sometime. Out of morbid curiosity, I want to watch Cats again too…
This movie more so though of course.
Yeah, Cats is So Bad, It's Good or Bile Fascination
Les (2012) is more of a flawed but interesting and sometimes good adaptation
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectYou did get the sense there was time and attention put into this movie that either wasn't there with Cats or just went so horribly wrong that there was just no way to correct any of it in the end even if they tried.
Having not seen the musical of Les Mis, this movie worked and stood on its own. It felt like it translated properly in the way that it should. It helped that there was such a grand scale to work on and that it was the guy who did The King's Speech too.
Tam - its that moment when you find out what really happens to Fagin, and you realise they aren't loveable rogues...
Do the job in front of you.
