Paper Mario 3DS

The old thread got nuked so here's a new one. New gameplay footage by the way.

I love how EVERYTHING seems to be made of paper now. Even the water. 8D

Reminds me a lot of Kirbys Epic Yarn.

Also, DAT FIGHT WOOSH.

Looks awesome. Paper Mario has yet to disappoint me, so I can't wait for this.

The game looks pretty nice! Can't wait for it to come out.

My onlycomplain is: ...no partners? Awww D:

I miss the partners (The oens of Super Paper Mario don't count!)

You don't know that yet. For one thing, Mario was seen with a Chain Chomp in the earlier promos.

There will be partners, I guess, this is just a demo video, thus it does not perfectly reflect the final product.

Yeah, check the original Super Mario Galaxy 2 trailer and compare it to the final product. A LOT got changed.

Man, if only I didn't desperately need a new computer. If Oo T hadn't convinced me of a burning need for the 3DS, this has.

It looks nice, without a doubt, but dang it, I want some more battle action!

Especially on the "partners" front.

Definately picking up this, And OOT 3DS(if only because I collect all the Zelda games) which'll hopefully put a new spin on the original. Besides (according to the interviews or whatever) making the Water Temple easier, even though it was tedious, not hard.

Yeah, Super Paper Mario was big letdown for me :/

I actually liked Super Paper Mario's gameplay; it felt both somewhat RPG-esque and "Mario-esque" at once. At the very least, I felt SPM was better than the original PM (maybe not 1000 Year Door though.)

It's gameplay seemed kinda bland to me. I rather enjoyed the RPG mechanics in the previous games.

But it's Mario, why shouldn't there be side-scrolling platforming stuff, regardless of it being an RPG? The 2D-3D flipping stuff was irritating, but everything else was just fine, IMHO.

I don't recall anything about Super Paper Mario's gameplay that was at all RPG-like. Then again, I never even finished it.

I dunno. But it kind of felt bland to me as a platformer.

There was one battle that was turn based. It was an ammusing Unexpected Genre Change.

The damage you did and took depended upon your stats, and HP increased as well.1

SPM was just a real slog for me. There was some great dialogue in there (I'm lookin' at you Francis) but it was just really tedious getting from good scene to good scene, the platforming felt like a slog.

Also, that video's the second time I've gone HNNNNNNNG at anything and actually felt that way about it.

I liked SPM, but it should've been called Paper Super Mario because having Paper next to Mario implies it's a Paper Mario game and not Super Mario Bros with Paper Mario's characters.

Given the emphasis on story, partner mechanics, item crafting, sidequests, and all o' that rot, I'd still say it's far more Paper Mario-y than Super Mario-y.

Yeah, I had much enjoyment with SPM too.

I enjoyed SPM, but it's not something I want to replay anytime soon. I just don't feel like playing it.

I'm looking forward to seeing who the partners will be.
