Cropping a panel or two out of a strip is extremely common. I don't think "try to stick as close to its original format as possible" has been used as a guideline for picking any page image ever.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yeah, we carve up comics all the time. Most of them use horizontal and we use vertical, it's practically inevitable.
Fight smart, not fair.Meant, like, using an excerpt instead of the whole thing, but that too.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I don't have a problem with only taking a couple of panels for the strip where he's in hell. I just don't see any reason to add on the panel where he's digging.
I don't have a problem with altering a comic; what I do have a problem with is taking two separate comic strips and smashing them together.
Ah, indeed.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Should we put a crowner for which arrangement of the Sinfest strips is best?
Sounds like a plan to me...but someone else is gonna have to do it, my crowner fu is nonexistent.
I'm personally in favor of the 2x2 pattern myself. That pic from Sin Fest illustrates the trope perfectly AND 2x2 is probably the best combination of image quality and space efficiency. Speaking of which, there was a pic discussion for Single Woman Seeks Good Man in which another Sin Fest example served the trope well but the discussion died.
So...anyone gonna stuff the crowner?
Stuffed, fire away.
Slow crowner is slow?
The winner's ahead by a good enough margin. Let's go with it.
2 yeas and a nay isn't a huge margin. Let's give it some more time.
Rhymes with "Protracted."If you say so.
As of right now, the 2x2 of the entire strip has a good lead, but let's wait until we're through the weekend to call this.
That Sinfest comic is one hell of a Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming. For the caption I'd suggest "this seems to be too pleasant to qualify as hell."
EDIT: Also, what exactly is she doing there, trying to pick things out of his skin or something?

I think it looks like she's trying to clean him up. Dirt from digging, probably.
At any rate, it's ahead by a huge lead. Let's use it.
Done and done.
EDIT: The "aww" caption is probably too simplistic though. What do people think of my earlier caption suggestion?

Nominations for replacement images:
You mean 2x2 or 4x1? I didn't see a sixteen panel variant.
