The Animal Friends? 64's ability combination system? Simpler and more puzzle-based gameplay? *shrug*
I don't really get the appeal, either.

Eh.Some people just like them I guess? I personally love the more recent games more. Couldn't really explain.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! Its mostly the Animal Friends and Kirby 64's copy mixing...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Not many of the characters introduced in the Dark Matter trilogy came back in later games. The original animal friends in particular are surprisingly popular (possibly because they showed up in the anime).
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. That's because of a different thing entirely.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.So how long will it be until we get the next Sakurai-style Kirby game?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Hi.
Kirby is one of my favourite series, so next month I'm doing a replay marathon of Adventure/Dream land 2/ Super star/64/Return to dreamland/Triple deluxe
wish me luck
Personally, I'm clamoring for a 3D Kirby to come out for the Wii U (most likely toward the end of its life cycle, just like other console Kirby titles). I doubt one will come out any time soon, though.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.Sakurai doesn't work on the series anymore, and all his games for the series were different in style, so I'm not exactly sure what a Sakurai-style Kirby game would be defined as.
Personally, I just want at least a current-gen port or remake of Kirby Air Ride. A sequel would be nice, but I don't think that's ever gonna happen.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I really don't think what Kirby does could be done well in a 3D setting.
The hitboxes would have to be enormous.
x2
Triple Deluxe says hi.
Sakurai styled would mean Super Star's game-play, which we already got with Triple Deluxe...we won't be getting another one for a while.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Everything is still confined to 2D planes in terms of actual gameplay.

The problem with making a 3D Kirby game is trying to find a concept of game-play that works for more than one game and making decent level design that feels like Kirby actually is evolving from 2D to 3D in a smooth way. Then finding a way to actually increase the challenge like normal.
Fighting enemies wouldn't be as big of a problem as you think.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The biggest hurdle would be handing how Kirby's swallow works. It has a huge range in the 2D games, but plop Kirby in a 3D area and it'll be a lot less useful.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!@Odd1: The Sakurai style is pretty much inhaling with tons of abilities with a greater focus on combat (as opposed to the Dark Matter Trilogy style which has fewer abilities and a focus on puzzle solving, or any of the other spinoffs with completely different gameplay).
I think a 3D Kirby game should be a combo-heavy beat-em-up deal like DMC, GoW, Bayo and the like. I've always loved the Sakurai-style Kirby games for the combat, but I've also wished it could be focused on a little more.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Dunno why there's be any asking about getting a Sakurai-style game, considering we've already recently gotten Triple Deluxe and Return to Dreamland (and Super Star Ultra, if you want to count that). It seems to be the style HAL's going with right now, outside of spinoff-y titles.
a.k.a. Cly, that one girl who doesn't post here much anymore Something something YI = SMW 2 = SMB 5.There really isn't an option.
The only option is from the Dark Matter games, Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad are just Nightmare in Dreamland 2.0 which was a remake of the simplest style with copy powers.
Unless they want to try no powers and all items again...ha.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. There could be a few ways to make a 3d Kirby work. Maybe allowing you to aim while inhaling, or turning the air gun attack into a stun you can use at any time.
Its not about making Kirby himself work, its about actually designing levels in a 3D environment and making it work with Kirby's abilities.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
Can someone tell me what the appeal of the Dark Matter Trilogy is beyond "Dark Matter are cool villains"? I really don't like the Dark Matter games since they're so boring, yet a lot of people seem to love them.
