Meanwhile, looking at this one closely◊...it is a very well-dressed meguca who comes to the battle wearing a pink Panzer IV. I commend her choice of costumes.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Sayaka break-dancing in The Rebellion story was great. I hope she does more dancing in possible sequels in the franchise.
What, rebellion spoilers abound and no one mentions the ribbons?

ALL HAIL THE WARGERBIL!Mami's ribbons?
I'd rather talk about cheese. :3
I'd like to say that, while I do think what Homura did was wrong, I don't think she was 'objectively' evil because I don't think cosmological morality exists in universe; just the subjective experience of people who feel emotions, but at the same time that is a powerful truth in and of itself. I think the movie has Homura's actions having both good and bad things come from it, and viewing the bad or good as more important are equally valid interpretations. I do think though that while the world she created isn't 'inherently' unstable given the evidence we're given so far, I feel Homura's psychology is going to lead her to make more drastic decisions as time goes on. And I still feel her lack of respect for Madoka's sovereignty is a pretty big issue.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Well, it was either that or let the Incubators get her...
Though I'm not sure if the isolation field is still in effect or if they blew it up.
Well I mean everything after she breaks out of the isolation field.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.I've always felt that image was very bizarre. God loves all her children, including herself, apparently.
Nice music, though.
But not Nagisa apparently.
EDIT: I have come to the conclusion that gifs with Nagisa in them are the best gifs.
EDIT: Also, Manuke is still adorable.

You know how it is, the people you knew in life as other than Satan's own bad trip always have a special place in your heart.
Oh man, you guys know what I keep thinking of regarding this show? (And yes, I've seen all 12 episodes and read what happens in Rebellion.)
Never let a Magical Girl team do a giant robot's job.
Come on, let's face it people. A giant robot would've eradicated all those pesky witches with 4 times the awesome, thrice the power, and none of the angst.
(Prepares for comments of disapproval.)
I don't think so.
Because magic.
Also, giant robots didn't make Evangelion any less angsty.
Not really as long as magical girls are around using giant robots to fight witches will never end the everlasting fight to defeat said witches.
Also you should really get around to watch the Rebellion story.

Come on man, who wouldn't want to see a giant robot like Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter 1 or Genesic Gao Gai Gar wipe the floor with the likes of Charlotte, Oktavia Von Seckendorff, or even Walpurgisnacht?
Also, in my defense, Evangelion units aren't exactly 100% giant robot if you know what I mean.
And see Ultimate Madoka get (figuratively) F'd in the ass? Me no think so.
Besides, it's not even in English…yet.

I wouldn't, quite frankly.
I mean, part of the point of the Witches is the way they aren't exactly in the physical world.
One of the appeals of the series is the changing art styles.
One of the points of giant robot fights is comparing them with both the opponent and the surroundings. And the Witches normally have complete control over the surroundings. Because the surroundings are frequently hugely metaphorical and more reminiscent of a drug trip or a tour through the mind of a massively depressed teenager, which, funnily enough, is what the Witches are.
Like, half the time when you're doing giant robots you're doing them in cities or in outer space.

I mean, I'm not sure how this series would work outside of the Magical Girl genre. It seems to be part of the point of most of the iconography.
I mean, the main reveal relies on a pun off the words "Mahou Shoujo" (Magical Girl) and "Majo" (Witch).
And there's a few fights, namely in Rebellion, that I think would be less impressive if they involved giant robots. Because giant robots are too big, and don't look as graceful as Mami and Homura.
Giant robots should feel giant, should be heavy-seeming. Otherwise, you might as well just make them normal-sized robots.
And, I mean. There's an impressive sense of scale and vertigo when the combatants are smaller than and jumping and flying through their environment, as opposed to giants standing over it.

Ok, two things:
1. When I said "Why don't you like fun?" on my last comment, was I about to start a flamewar?
2. Exactly how tall are the witches? Because I was under the assumption that giant robots are shorter than the majority of the witches.

This is Madoka. No fun here. Only suffering, and sometimes cake.
Personally, I'm glad they didn't use giant robots, as cool as it would have been. Cause then we wouldn't get to see this awesome gun fight:
In my opinion, the best anime fight scene of 2013 (eat your heart out Attack On Titan XD), and one of the greatest gun fights in all of cinema.
Also, that fight further cements my opinion that this series was heavily inspired by The Matrix:
Compare the two above gun fights in both style and destruction, and you'll see what I mean.
Obviously the twist that Sayaka can get down. I recall that made something of a splash when we first learned about that.
