It seems like such an odd thing to forget, no? They do say that going with your gut is usually right...
Bay: "Only 24 Million?"
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here? So, I'm just gonna leave this here.

Oh my fucking god, this "continuity" and "timeline" bullshit again. This is literally the most tiresome part of the Bond fandom, that they can't just accept that Bond has a floating continuity, like a long-running comic book.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Well, him being a Time Lord at least makes more sense than him being six completely unrelated men under the same cover identity...
Oh my Odin, this stuff about, what is it by now, half a dozen totally different men, (and that's not even counting the guys - and at least one woman from what I recall - who played him in the version of Casino Royale I could actually bother to watch) from different nationalities, all being the same guy and anyone who says otherwise is wrong? Why can't they accept that that argument doesn't make any sense?
Just thought I'd make the opposite line of argument, ya know, out of fairness. Even though it's what I think is the case there's no point swearing at those on the other side of the debate as it's really, really going to change their minds. As Wayne and Garth said, "Not!!"
edit.
Anyway, want to know the reasons why Bond didn't rape one traumatized gang rape victim in one film yet completely failed NOT to rape another traumatized gang rape victim in the next? Try reading Day 4 of this.

It's one of the best textual analyses of the Bond mythos since EVER, and it's pretty uncomfortable reading at times.

I won a pub quiz last week, and part of the prize is getting to choose this week's specialist subject (last week was Red Dwarf, and I owned it). I picked Bond, of course. I'm hoping for 10/10 tonight, and will give the questions to you lovely people when I'm home!
Okay, forgot I was doing this, so as best I can from memory.
- 1. Who sang the themes to each of the following films? (1 point for each): The Man With The Golden Gun, Gold Finger, Sky Fall
- 2. The characters Bambi and Thumper appear in which film?
- 3. Who has starred in the most (canonical) Bond films as of the release of SPECTRE?
- 4. When Bond asks for a vodka martini in Casino Royale, what does he say when asked if he'd like it shaken or stirred? (a) Do I look like I give a damn? (b) Shaken, and then shaken again (c) Forget it, I'll just have a pint.
- 5. Which novel was released first? Bonus point if you can give the year.
- 6. Which Oscar winning actress has played a Bond girl?
- 7. Judie Dench plays which role in Tomorrow Never Dies?
- 8. Which Bond is the oldest - Sean Connery, George Lazenby, or Roger Moore?
- 9. Which 00 number did Sean Bean play in Goldeneye - (a) 004, (b) 006, (c) 009?
- 10. What nationality is Pierce Brosnan?
- 11. What does SPECTRE stand for? (There were options but I can't remember them, so you get the harder version )
14 points on offer in total, we got 13 because we got #8 wrong. I was not the one who knew the year the first book was released - weirdly, one of my team was reading the book on the train today.
Good luck!
I finally listened to Writings on the Wall.
Never in my life have I heard a more boring theme for a Bond film. Remember how awesome You Know My Name and Skyfall were? I guess it's gonna be one awesome 007 theme every other film from now on.
@Hamburger Time Didn't Quantum of Solace also lampshade the overuse of "fucks Bond, gets killed" thing? Like, I know it wasn't a good movie, but you don't have to do the exact oposite of everything it did.
And you know, wouldn't most of the uncomfortable subtext with it disappear, if they just gave Craig a better game than coming to her shower naked?
Or even better, not going for the Disposable Sex Worker/Not the last Bond Girl so it's okay if she dies shitty cliche at all?
I really want the leading lady of SPECTRE to be alive at the end. Good Lord is Craig!Bond's fridge getting crowded.
I was talking specifically about the sex thing but yeah, it's getting pretty uncomfortable. Even Connery at least looked sad for few seconds.
Anyway, finally heard the song. Is this gonna be like Star Trek movies now, except with even-numbered sucking? I didn't even think it was all that bad but man, listen to ANY of its covers on Youtube.

I got to the first chorus and immediately gave up. Ease up on the falsetto.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectIn Casino Royale Bond's phone and several videos clearly place Casino Royale in 2006. Incidentally it would also explain why Bond is tougher in sky fall (the wiki places sky fall in 2012) so more time has passed.
to be fair, the poor decision-making in Skyfall was at least part of the overall plot. Bond was an underperforming agent at the time and had made several bad decisions already.
Again, my main problem with Writings On The Wall is that it's unbelievably dull and boring. As bad as Die Another Day and Another Way To Die were, they at least were memorable and stuck out. This just feels so downbeat and lazy.
Then again, Sam Smith did write it in just 20 minutes, so that could be a factor.
Here's to hoping there is an alternate that becomes the unofficial main theme a la TND? (even if I'm seemingly one of the few who liked Crowe's theme)
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...Sam Smith is okay, but his crooning got a bit annoying for me, fast, due to "Stay With Me" playing like, every couple of hours when I would listen to the radio.

I loved the TND theme! Crow's voice actually works even when strained, whereas Smith sounds like a cat being tortured even when he isn't trying too hard (this is assuming he's trying to sing at all, which I think he is but can't quite be certain).
My favourite theme is the one from The Living Daylights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXM4eIoPZUU
It screams 1980s.

Schild und Schwert der Partei
That and "Live and Let Die". Made even better with the Guns & Roses cover.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleI've said it here before, but mine are that one and the theme of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Oh yeah, Severine. That was terrible.
