Has anyone here ever had to perform a musical performance for anything? Perhaps its only me, but for some reason, I can sing for one song, play an instrument for another, but cannot simply do both. If anyobe her can do both, please tell me the secret of your sucess...

Learn one part REALLY well. Like, you can do it in your sleep. You need to get the notes down perfectly, the rhythms down perfectly, memorize lyrics if you decide to learn the vocal part really well.

It also helps to put both parts together slowly.

This is what I do.

It takes a lot of practice.

Is it original material, or a cover?

If it's a cover, try singing and playing along with a recording. It'll help ingrain the timing, and you'll likely find it easier to put the parts together when you have an audible reference.

Just make sure to practice without a recording, too.

For original material, if you can record just one of the parts absolutely perfectly, use that as a reference recording.
