Oh yeah. The funny thing is they probably could have sliced the contempt for that title apart if they had revealed they where working on the Metroid 2 remake at the time.
Oh it is. It's probably more akin to a helicopter than a fighter jet in terms of futuristic mobility.
Bleye knows Sabers. There were plans to do a lot more ship stuff in Metroid Prime 3 but most of it got scrapped. The remnants are there with a lot of systems in the cockpit that aren't really used for anything (except for immersion, I suppose). And a little of it remains with the Command Visor functions.
But also, remember that Samus' ship is replaced with a completely different one in Fusion and Dread.

That was her fifth ship. Samus has lots of loved ones who she has lost, her parents, the Chozo who raised her, even her work friends from Corruption are all dead, but apparently, she also has several ships that also died on her.
And now I'm picturing Samus at a graveyard mourning everyone she's lost, and then she gets to her ships, which are also buried there for some reason.

Do we even know if Samus has a permanent residence anywhere? Maybe she outright lives in her ships.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowThe closest we ever got were first, The Locker, from Captain N, where she kept all her dangerous stuff, but we don't know how often she actually stayed there, then in Samus & Joey there was a space station where she stashed Joey because taking him on missions would have been a bad idea, where a mechanic named Diesel would perform maintenance on her ships. Outside of that, I really don't think Samus has any kind of permanent residence, and does live in her ship. Samus has always felt like a Workaholic to me.

A couple of Metroid: Zero Mission's ending screens I interpreted as Samus relaxing at her place, but that's just my interpretation, others may not share it.
The Metroid Zero tied in manga did suggest she maintains a residence on Earth
Given how small her ship is, I don’t think she maintains much of a wardrobe on it
I also think she doesn’t spend much time there even if she does. Right after Metroid II she flew off to look for more work.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSince it's been brought up, I will say I would like a ship mechanic in a Metroid game.
Maybe like a couple of dog fighting sections or something.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillSet a game between Metroid II and Super so The Baby is on the ship for a pet mini game
Forever liveblogging the AvengersFuture economy's fucked. Samus saves the Federation every other month and she still has to look for work after her last job is over to pay the rent.
"Set between II and Super with Samus running around the galaxy playing Cat and Mouse with Ridley while "Baby on Board" is on the gunship's bumper" sound like a great place to fit a new trilogy TBH.
Bleye knows Sabers. In a less depressing interpretation, I’ve seen fanart where Samus gives most of her earnings to survivors of pirate attacks
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI know Resileafs was being funny but yeah, I severely doubt Samus is actually hurting for cash. Aside from upkeep on her ship and weapons, I don't see what she would spend a lot on in the first place.
The hunt is just her default state of being.
Bleye knows Sabers. To misquote the old 60's Spider-Man theme:
Wealth and fame, is ignored. Action is her reward.
And by ignored I mean, properly invested so she's always financially comfortable, allowing her to beat up anything that needs to be beaten up when she feels the need.
One Strip! One Strip! The Power Suit is Chozo self-repairing Lost Technology anyway, so it’s really only the succession of ships she has to spend money on. I agree that while she might have an apartment or something, probably nicely appointed, she doesn’t spend much time there. It’s equally plausible that she lives out of her ship and just keeps it in port on whichever planet she happens to find herself when she wants some downtime.
I feel like Samus' ship is more a heavily-armed stealth transport for her than it is a fighting craft.
