So played a bit of the original Kid Icarus/the 3D classics thingy, a bit of the original Metroid, a bit of Kid Icarus Uprising. And I read a neat Kid Icarus article thing.
On the one hand, it's easy to tell that Kid Icarus and Metroid share the same engine. On the other hand, the two games are as different as can be.
So I'm back to thinking about ways the Kid Icarus Uprising engine could be used to make a Metroid game. I mean, they'd have to add a standard "jump" feature, but the game already has powers that enable jumping.
The controls would be different, but then, the original Kid Icarus and the original Metroid have been playable on so many systems with so many buttons and control differences. So that's not actually an issue. A game's engine is not the same as the control scheme.
The full-auto and auto-charge shots and dodging both work and are functional. Similar to Other M's basic gameplay except better.
...Actually, I'm wondering a bit about how they took the Metroid engine and then implemented Kid Icarus' score system, hearts and the Eggplant Wizard back in the 80s. It's possible to tell the similarities between the two NES games, and the fact that they shared so many devs is a dead giveaway, but. Yeah.

Metroid Kid Icarus crossover plz. Shota Pit and Samus action would be fun to see.
Oh, you guys had same idea about Uprising styled game with Samus huh
Though my idea was more of Super Smash Bros spin off with Uprising style gameplay <_< Guess something mix of upcoming "Hyrule Warriors" and those :p
I don't know about Uprising gameplay. Just the same engine.
So, okay, third person shooting and aiming with melee attacks, full-auto, charge shots, dashing, dodges, and stuff.
But no hearts or scores. Also, a jump button.
So basically the same as the relationship between the original Metroid and the original Kid Icarus.
Maybe it would work better if tapping was fire and the shoulder button should be jump?
I sure said that!x4

Yes, yes, a Metroid with the uprising engine. I imagine it would feature Samus trading barbs with the scan visor and computer Adam over the radio when she reaches certain check points and have flight sections where Samus stands on or hangs off her gunship like in Nintendo Land.
After shooting down space pirate skiffs, Samus finds an ancient Chozo gunship upgrade brings it back to her ship and scans it to figure to see if it has any compatibility. Analyzing 20%, CPU, wiring, modem, server, desktop, router, 80%...recorded in log! Subject is not Adam Malkovitch, The Computer Is a Lying Bastard, press start for further reading. Samus raises an eyebrow "Say what?" "No, I assure you I was built by a married man."
They can't have devoted that much of Uprising to the dialogue.
...And I think the original Kid Icarus also sorta had a flying section that wasn't in the original Metroid.

Kometroids.
Komaytos, totally not Metroids.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. What do you mean much? I would not have anymore than was in Prime 3, maybe less. I do like the idea of all scan data coming out in the most accusatory and sardonic manner it possibly can while remaining factual (it is tied to Samus's central nervous system so the suit's readings should reflect her mood) for example, it would give a detailed recap on why recovering any of Adam's biological material or brainwaves, as the sector zero incident as reduced them to space debris. As well as poking holes in everything else it tells you if you scan in the appropriate areas. (Computer Adam just has access to his notes, logs, biography and decided to imitate him when learned that Samus liked him, stuff like that)
Actually, this lends credence to the theory that Tourian is filled with spaghetti sauce.

Aliens Infestation is a pretty neat game. It's a Metroidvania based on the Aliens series. Which Metroid was sorta loosely inspired by.
Playing through the first Prime again because it's all I got.
Sort of a cheap move losing her powers after a light tap in the elevator.
Like I know she needs to lose all her shit once a game but a little knock like that? Come on.
Oh really when?Could be worse. Could be authorization.
True,
Just thinking out loud but I'd like to see a Metroid game placed after Fusion.
I mean Samus has gone and esploded a big fancy Federation research station, gotten away with one of their starships and an A.I.
That's interesting plot material right? Samus an outlaw, on the run from the Feds.
Oh really when?Also part-Metroid.
Eating people as a primary game mechanic.
You wouldn't even have to lose the previous game's upgrades, just mutate them in interesting ways.
...Some sort of Metroid based energy drain thing would be pretty kickass.
Plus you know, eating the flesh or your slain foes.
Oh really when?Well, Metroids can't really get anything from dead things. Science team had a thing about that.
Can Metroids even digest meat? Thanks to Science Team, we know they don't agree with pet treats.
Actually, that just raises further questions. What would a standard issue space pirate pet treat even look like?
This post now edited for ninjary.

It would happen like every other time The Doctor meets a woman who isn't a companion. She saves his hide a few times, he cracks some jokes, her crew is slowly offed, The Doctor is has a problem he can't solve, they have a somber moment where she realizes all the hardships he's gone through, he solves the problems, but oh no she's dead oh wait she lived CREDITS.
