They better have that rumored character customization, I'm tired of looking as the same thing over and over...
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.Man, old news is so exciting!
Against all tyrants.Old? Wasn't it announced just today?
Ah, I see. Well, I guess I'll just say that the teaser will be on this site tomorrow and leave it at that.

But... but... what? Broken link?
Jonah FalconI'm assuming it was deleted since either somebody thought that it was a younger topic than this one (I don't believe it was) or somebody likes you more than that thread's OP.
Exact same title, pretty much the exact same info.

Against all tyrants.Includes jets, 64-player multiplayer and prone!
Now I worry the maps will be significantly smaller. I loved Bad Company 2's.
Yeah, sorry about that. As soon as I saw this, I decided to post a new topic without bothering to check.
The teaser makes me think... is the Terminator involved in this one?
So, Gameinformer has some new stuff to look at (no pics, unfortunately):
- The Frostbite 2 engine looks very nice-it can do real-time dynamic lighting, incredibly realistic destruction, and gorgeous graphics. In fact, DICE said they waited so long to make the game because they wanted to perfect the engine.
- Character animations are being [[stricke:stolen]] borrowed from Madden and FIFA. Apparently they'll look as good in multiplayer as they do in singleplayer.
- Speaking of multiplayer, executive producer Patrick Bach said that this time they'll make sure to sustain the community (no more 6-month map waits), have four classes, enlarge the pre-game lobby squads, keep hardcore mode, I think a custom kill-cam (like the one in Black Ops, he was trying to keep it a secret), will have bigger maps, and yes, you can go prone.
- It will have co-op.
- The singleplayer campaign will take place 20 Minutes into the Future in a variety of locales, although the only one detailed was Iraqi Kurdistan.
- DICE is using the PC as the base, is stressing that this is the "true" version, is the most powerful graphics-wise, and is supporting 64-player matches on the PC (and only PC). However, they also said that they might not allow people to mod due to the complexity of the Frostbite 2 engine and are looking for other ways to give modders a good experience.
No Game Mods? That's not a good sign.
I wonder if this game will even top Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, or Battlefield 2, because Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sure as hell didn't.
To be honest... with the fanbase as it is now, it is doubtful even remaking those games would make them be considered equal.
Bigger maps? WITH PRONE!?
TAKE MAH MONEY DICE I'M NOT WORTHY OF IT

They didn't say that there would be no mods, just that it would be harder for DICE to provide full mod support due to the complexity of the game engine.
Well, what's the difference between "full mod support" and "partial mod support"?
It's not like Battlefield 1942 was particularly easy to mod at first (map and vehicle edits had to be done the hard way, without specialized tools), but we eventually got stuff like Desert Combat, and before that, several individual helicopter mods (when people didn't think helicopters were possible in the game engine).
Is is a matter of new weapons? New maps? New vehicles? New gametypes?
And I don't see how engine complexity is necessarily an obstruction to modification, unless they foolishly hard-coded some things. It might mean more work to create a passable Total Conversion, but that's true of video game development in general over the last few years and going forward, isn't it?
Okay, to tell you the truth, I have no idea what that means. I'm just parroting the developers here.
What they said was that, due to the complexities of the engine (one of the main ones, I assume, being the highly realistic character animations), it would be harder to provide mod support for the game, but they would try their darndest.
Well, that just could mean that Total Conversion mods would be rather hard to do, but it's possible that small mods akin to those for Oblivion and Fallout 3 will be possible.
Who knows, maybe they'll end up with the Counter Strike route and make it easy to install custom weapon skins (or not).

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI wonder what the console version will be like.
The console version, I believe, will be the PC version on average-to-great settings.
Fuck that noise, we better be able to have at least 40 players; Frontlines did it!
Probably good ol' 16 x 16.
Seriously, just ape MAG's "all maps have their own servers" thing.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudBitches better let people go prone; need to throw in some bullet physics too.
It has been announced that prone will be in BF 3 PC, so that might give you hope.
And didn't BC 2 have bullet drop? The PC version did.

BC did, it was awesome; totally separated the posers from the people with skill. Half-mile shot with the .50 anyone?
Kind of early to be releasing a sequel: didn't they just release BC 2 in the middle of last year?
Confirmed for 2011.
