I have an idea about a vampire show, about a vampire who works with humans as a hitman, but it's not a Vampire Detective story. For one, the protagonist is a woman, and she loves being a vampire. But, I'm getting off topic.

I want to know what I need to change about my vampires. I put a list of their strengths, weaknesses, cultural aspects, and general traits.

Strengths

  • Ageless and can't catch diseases unless close to pure silver.
  • Stronger than the average human and can run without getting exhausted.
  • Immune to bullets and bludgeons.
  • Psychic Powers, though the specific powers vary.

Weaknesses

  • Sunlight irritates their skin and makes them unable to concentrate.
  • Pure silver takes away their powers.
  • Garlic is poisonous to them.
  • Decapitation is the only mundane way to kill a vampire without silver.
  • A stake will weaken them, it has to be hammered in to paralyze them.
  • If they go a month without blood, they will fall into a coma.
  • Sharp weapons still hurt them, they don't die unless they're made out of silver, or if they're close to silver.
  • Vampires can't swim.
  • Animals act with hostility towards them.

Cultural Aspects

  • Kissing is a casual act and doesn't imply intimacy.
  • Licking things isn't seen as odd.
  • Vampires are expected to be neat and organized.
  • Humans are seen as food, slaves, or potential vampires.
  • Vampiresses mainly do the hunting.
  • Genders are equal.

Traits

  • Look like pale humans with pointed ears and fangs.
  • Hair ranges from white, gray, and black. Maybe a mixture.
  • Eyes are either red, purple, or gold.
  • A bite is very pleasing for both parties, especially for humans.
  • Vampires are sterile. They "reproduce" by using a ritual on a dead body.
  • If a vampire bites a woman who is 1-3 months pregnant, the child will be a full vampire. 4-6 months, half-vampire. 7-9 months, the child will be a human.
  • Zombies are seen as slaves and dispensable beings.
  • Body heat is below room temperature.
  • Vampires have a strong sense of taste.
  • Vampires recover their wounds when the clock strikes midnight.
  • Vampires are restless.

  • Ageless and can't catch diseases unless close to pure silver.
    • silver is a disease in your world?

  • Vampires can't swim.
    • does that mean that they cannot enter water, don't float, or float too much? because if they don't breath I can't see this as an issue.

  • Vampiresses mainly do the hunting; Genders are equal.
    • a logical contradiction unless the males do something equally important.

  • Vampires are sterile. They "reproduce" by using a ritual on a dead body; If a vampire bites a woman who is 1-3 months pregnant, the child will be a full vampire. 4-6 months, half-vampire. 7-9 months, the child will be a human; Zombies are seen as slaves and dispensable beings.
    • the first two contradict each other but not by that much, what are half-vampires like? and how do they create zombies and do they count for the ritual.

  • Vampires recover their wounds when the clock strikes midnight.
    • I have no idea how this works, but it is awesome.

looks like a good start

1. No, it seems a bit redundant, but since silver basically just makes them human (no special powers and stuff.) they become vulnerable to diseases when it's close by.

2. They do have to breathe, and the type of Super Drowning Abilities are that they sink like a rock. Zombies are useful for them because they sink but don't breathe.

3. The males are leaders, the females are hunters.

4. The ritual and biting at 1-3 months pregnant are two ways of making a vampire. Half-vampires are like most fantasy hybrids, inherits some of the strengths of the parent, and also the weaknesses, but neither are completely full. (vampires get irrItated skin and lose their concentration in the sunlight, half-vampires get half of the effect.) Half-vampires live with the vampire for obvious reasons. Zombies are made by vampires gifted with the ability to revive someone, to varying degrees (they can choose to make them a zombie, human, or somewhere in-between.).

5. That one I thought made sense, the sun weakens them, midnight empowers them.

But if the males and females have different roles (leading, hunting) how are they equal?

There's nothing wrong with having unequal genders in your story, btw. After all, if you consider the incredible length of vampire lifespans, you would think they'd be REALLY conservative. While it isn't good for genders to be unequal in real life, it's all right for a fictional society to be like that. As long as you don't say yourself, as the author, that it's all right for genders to be unequal, you're fine.

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

Okay, then... males are the dominate gender in the vampire society. (Leading is a higher place of authority and they lead the females to hunt)

So are the half vampires, and vampires sired in utero eternal children or what?

Full vampires made by biting a pregnant woman physically age to six years old due to being turned at development (some vampires age a few years after their resurrection, but stop physically aging after about six). Half-vampires just have long lifespans, up to 120 years old average, though they stop aging when they physically look sixty.

So what issues do vampires (ones turned while gestating) face?

For one, the inability to be as developed as an adult physically, and in some ways, mentally, and the fact that, if the vampire who made them didn't come quick enough, the doctor who delivered the baby will try to kill it. The reason why a vampire would make these would be that young vampires can turn into bats, but since the only other way to make a vampire is through ritual, where dead children are far less common, the natural vampires are good for being able to be small and fly.
