What would the impact of the hottest, most popular boy on the high school campus being the boyfriend of the most dorkiest girl in the student body...unironically. I mean they are an official "item" from the start of their terms and stay together even after they graduate. And this girl is dorky, as in she's got a goofy, nearly buck-toothed grin and funny habits. About the only thing she doesn't have is that awkwardness people usually get around such people.

Weird looks, akward conversations, jokes, but mostly I dont think anyone would care that much, as long as the girl is adorkable. If not, why the hell is the guy dating her in the first place?

Depends on the school. But generally, the girls would relentlessly bully or ostracize the dorky girl out of resentment and/or jealousy. And the guys would make fun of the cool boy for selling himself short. But it all depends on the people involved, especially the central two. It could be anything from the school making their lives hell, to (most) people just finding it cute.

edit: I just noticed that you said they were going out since the start of school. If it started out that way, it would be less of a big deal to everybody, since it would be less of a travesty/anomaly and more "oh, it's always been like that"

Of course, if a new comer came to the school and saw this arrangement, then things could get interesting. Especially if said newcomer was a popular girl from another school and has her sights set on the boy.

Depends on the school really, modern school maybe a few snickers but most people wouldn't care, Holly Wood school though it be the Big Deal of the year.

How did they get together? What do they see in each other? I'm just asking because of how unlikely it is that they would get together in the first place, unless they both had an outstanding level of self confidence enough to withstand potential ridicule from others, and also wondering what it is that they have in common.

Not trying to be a killjoy, just looking for logistics.

"You got a match?" "Uh, yeah, my butt and your... uh... butt."

Dorkie and Guy's (placeholder names!) relationship actually goes back to their kindergarten years but it wasn't until their Junior High year when things started heating up when Dorkie's then boyfriend, Dweebie, began developing Jealousy issues and Dorkie tried to get away by going to places on campus that he would most likely not go. One such place was the cool kids place in the cafeteria, known as "The Pit" (it was simply a spot where the floor just happened to be lower than the rest of the room).

While in the pit, Dorkie would sometimes talk to Guy about random things since they knew eachother for such a long time. Since Guy was actually a fairly good student he would often help her with homework and things. After some time, the other students began to rumor that the two were "an item". By the end of their time in Junior High, they were an official couple. For the other dorkie girls on campus, Dorkie was a ray of hope and she had gained something of her own girl posse.

Sadly, due to the fact that Dorkie and Guy were living in two seperate districts they were unable to attend the same high school for the first year. In that time, Guy got a new girlfriend nicknamed Princess who (rather classically) dated only the best players on the sports team and Guy managed to secure the spot of quarterback. He still maintained a connection with Dorkie and was disheartened when he heard that she had to deal with Dweebie on her own now that she had no one else she could go to to get away.

Thankfully, Dorkie's father got a new job in the same district as Guy so they moved and she transferred to his school. Unfortunately, she is now amongst strangers in a school that seems very segregated when it comes to who is popular and who is not.

...

And this is about far as I have come up with for their history. As you can see, they obviously find comfort in each other and they have a long history that is backing their relationship.

An interesting situation, how would the social situations change if the dorky girl was the popular girl, as in she's got her own posse, the hottest guy on campus is her boyfriend, and isn't ostracized or mocked by the other girls?

Given what you've described the school to be like, try looking at old, rigid class structures - something like the French Estates, or the Roman Republic/Citizenry. That might give you an idea of what would happen if a person of lower status suddenly became part of the upper class, and how that might turn out, or even not turn out.

One small objection here. So these guys knew each other as little kids yet suffer from no Westermark Effect?

Reverse sexual imprinting. What makes you not want to bang your sister. It's not as common among childhood friends as you'd think, though, especially around kindergarten, since that's just at the end of when the Westermarck effect takes hold.

[up]ah. It's the whole "I knew you as a kid and I can't stop seeing you as that even though you've grown up and stuff" problem?

As above, depends on the school. Sounds like your dorky girl is just really geeky and isn't mocked a lot, so there'd probably be some "Dude, why her?" questions, or some eyebrow raises. If she's mocked rather frequently, it can go both ways - she'll be left alone more, or she could be an easier target now.

A Real Life example worth studying: John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Let's be honest, I can't be the only person who wondered what the fuck he was getting out of that.
