Also on Hulu.

I'm ambivalent, mostly.

As usual, it looks like a show from Canada. As usual, the credits say it is. Which means, as usual, I have never seen any promotional material for it nor have heard of it except on an obscure online location such as this. And as usual, it's again something that could just as well have been done in live-action and would probably be much cheaper to produce.

I love it, so...nope? Adult Swim needs more shows like this and less "because abstract is cool" shows.

This is not too different than 6Teen, Total Drama Island, or Stoked!, which Turner has the rights to run on TV, so that's not too far a wish.

I'm curious- why did all the bits about it being a rip-off of "Least I Could Do" get taken out? The creator of the comic has stated that Teletoon used his ideas for an LICD series, added their own, and basically made their own show with it after he walked away from the project. Other pages have stated things like that, haven't they?

Where did you hear this show used to be the adaptation of Least I Could Do before the creators walked out of the deal due to Executive Meddling? Sounds like a hilarious story.

This is what happened (from what I heard)

The guy who created The Least I Could Do went to Teletoon and asked them if they wanted to make an Animated Adaptation of his webcomic, they said no (can't blame them, I hear it sucks) then after a while, Teletoon created The Dating Guy and the creator of The Least I Could Do thought it was a little too similar to his webcomic, so he said that they stole his idea.

Here's a something on the controversy:

Teletoon's version of events: http://webcomicoverlook.com/2011/05/25/teletoon-responds-to-the-licd-discussion/ Sohmer's response is down below.

From the LICD forums: http://forum.leasticoulddo.com/index.php?showtopic=32913

I can't find the original talking point where Sohmer talked about it ("Rayne should just be a serial monogamist, not a one-night stand guy! Issa should be a native!"), unfortunately.
