Redline actually refers to that red line on the rpm meters in (some?) cars, which marks the maximum safe angular velocity of the engine crankshaft. So... not really a coincidence.
Neither is actually out on DVD yet, though I've heard Redline has made the rounds in anime fairs already.

Has anyone heard of this Anime movie?I've seen it. By some miracle Madman Entertainment got it for their Reel Anime 2010 festival (along wiht King of Thorn, Summer Wars, Eva 1.0 and 2.0) and actually screened it before it debuted in Japanese cinemas.
The animation took some getting used to, especially after watching King of Thorn and Summer Wars earlier in the day, but that happened well before the final race started and after that it was pure, high octane awesome.
