Red Letter Media pointed something out in their commentary that I never noticed before — and how ridiculously fucking stupid Wiseau is.
He listed the cast again for the on-location shots as "San Francisco — Second unit".
What the fuck?
Hey, Tommy... second unit are crew, and they're shot as coverage. If you have scenes shot — in a studio set or on location — it's production.
So you have Tommy as Johnny, Greg as Mark, etc. listed in the credits twice.
Interesting (and serious) analysis of the film's characters and themes − and failure to convey them effectively −, notably pointing out that Lisa could have been a fascinating character in a competently made film… I really wonder how much of that was deliberate on Wiseau's part though.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Welp, just when I thought I had already seen and read everything about this film…
A comedic "interview" of the film's actors, presented by a guy who was rejected for the role of Mark and directed by Robyn Paris, the "chocolate girl" in the film.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Hey guys, how do you feel about watching The Room?
Well, now you can, because Wiseau himself has put the entire movie on You Tube for everyone to see. https://decider.com/2018/09/21/the-room-on-youtube/
And here it is (NSFW warning, as per the usual, hence no embed): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-htzzL-JOUg
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Tommy Wiseau's a strange man, but I'm not going to question it. I can finally watch this movie without having to pay for it.
It's been 3000 years…... yeah, the movie has been on You Tube for the most part of a decade now.
Bob Odenkirk to star in the remake of The Room. No, this is not a joke. It's actually happening. But there's actually a good cause towards it, as it will be used to fundraise for The Foundation for AIDS Research. So even if it's not as good as the original (or not as bad, however you want to look at it), at least there's some good intentions.

Dominic Nobel's THE ROOM parody is fantastic. Basically, envisioning a fictional book that the movie was adapted from and how they got it wrong.
It's so strange to see Johnny with some actual charisma.
It's been 3000 years…
...So that's gonna happen.
Interesting turn of events.
Um. You guys think they'll shoot for making a genuinely understandable version of the original movie or go for authenticity (for better or worse)?
Because in an era of Hollywood making remakes that not a lot of people were asking for (*reprehensibly stares at Disney and their recent live-action remakes*), a remake of one of the worst movies ever made sounds like an anomaly where said original movie could actually benefit from a remake. (Maybe.)
It would take a lot of work to rework The Room into a story that makes sense, and there’s a risk of it being… just a mediocre romance.
On the other hand, remaking it to be exactly as bad seems completely pointless. You can’t replicate the original’s badness because it wasn’t intended to be bad. That’s what makes SBIG movies funny to begin with.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I think the best way to remake The Room would be to do it completely straight, with no winks to the camera or anything like that. The humor would spawn from the fact that we're watching The Room being played seriously, with all the iconic lines and scenes being translated into an actual dramatic context. Granted, that might be a joke that only works for the duration of a short YouTube video rather than an actual full-length movie. Heck, that's basically just the idea behind Dom's video above, pretending there's an actual serious context behind all of the infamous parts of the film and that being the joke.
Failing that, you could do the same thing, playing the story of The Room completely straight, with everybody playing their parts legitimately... except for Johnny, who acts exactly the same, but no one in the movie acknowledges it.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonNow the question is: should they keep the dress-humping scene?
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. One of the fun things about "So Bad It's Good" is that it's almost always by accident.
Intentionally trying to create "so bad it's good" can take away a lot of the charm.
Have Chris R. be the only guy that acts cheesy for the sake of consistency with the source material (that is, Chris R is the only performance that is legitimately good).
It's been 3000 years…Oddly, The Room actually isn't a particularly difficult story to adapt. There's also a lot of angles to potentially explore.
There's a woman trapped in an unfulfilling relationship to a Spoiled Sweet rich guy who (deliberately or not) has an Ambiguous Disorder. She wants to break up with him but her mother has cancer and is very strongly discouraging her from doing so (for financial reasons it seems clear even with the odd script). So she starts an affair with his best friend. It all comes out and said rich guy is Driven to Suicide.
But that's not why anyone watched or enjoyed the Room. It's like doing a serious alien movie of Plan 9.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Odenkirk calling it a real movie makes me think it will be an earnest attempt to tell an actually-good version of the story.
Tommy got to be on the Golden Globes stage, but he didn't get to say anything, and Greg didn't even get to go up, which was unfair.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
