I'd say I'm at least excited to see a Tomb Raider game that doesnt look like a half-compiled poS with terrible controls.
Its not so much as killing them so much as its like...cleaving their necks with rusty sharp objects and then stomping on their head while ripping it out.
But hey - at least there's no attempted rape, right ?
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.so basically it's like Condemned?
Watch SymphogearI was expecting something more violent, there's nothing there that stands out more than in the average shooter.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. That transparent hexagon blood jelly filter is going to get old very fast.
The melee kills take the cake. It's no Manhunt, mind you - you won't see the shit oozing out of enemies' guts, but it's still pretty damn vicious.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Have to agree with that video. Rather hard for me to believe your character is "vulnerable" when she's killing shit Rambo-style.

Time to leave them all behindGameplay and Story Segregation strikes again!
Though, if reviews are to be believed, Lara goes from trying to survive, to going for vengeance pretty quickly.
Ah, Mrs Brain Hat is back again!
Schild und Schwert der Partei
Zero Punctuation illustrated a point in one of his reviews about what he saw as Lara's burgeoning sociopathy with a picture of Lara with blood and brains on her head and a big grin saying "I'M MRS BRAIN HAT" with the rejoinder: "She's fooling no-one, she's off her fucking rocker".

Schild und Schwert der ParteiHey, at least she's not as screwed up as Nathan Drake from Uncharted. That game is, like, the pinnacle of Gameplay and Story Segregation.
Also, this game is getting surprisingly good reviews.

At least Lara always did come off as somewhat unhinged, if unintentionally so.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. This reminds me of the Fear dilemma. They tried to scare you, but it was hard since you're an unstoppable bullet-spewing badass.
Oh heavens no. Fear is definitely scary.
Time to leave them all behindDidn't scare me. I played FEAR for the kick ass enemy AI (which was apparently...forgotten in 2 and ugh, 3)
I found FEAR scary precisely because all of your awesome weapons where basically worthless against Alma and the like.
^^The enemy AI was apparently just a coincidence, though-the level design was apparently what made them behave that way.
I found FEAR to be pretty damn tense because you just don't know what in the hell is really just up ahead most of the time.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelThere's one somewhat negative review out there by Machinima. They gave it a 6/10:
Not to mention, I'd point out, if your options are panic or shutting down the emotional centers that prevent you from surviving, Its not entirely impossible to become what lara does out of sheer instinct to not die alone in the middle of nowhere.
Huh... This doesn't look half bad. Might pick it up.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I don't mind the characterization being more an Action Survivor, myself, but I don't think it's right to characterize her as being all that vulnerable, even considering the Trauma Conga Line she basically suffers through the first 20 minutes of the game. Seriously, this new Lara is Made of Iron.
And yes, the comparison to Uncharted is more than fair. Not that it's a bad thing, but it is very much like it.
GloveAndBoots is good for Blog!
It's not only Lara who gets the pointy end of the stick. Her enemies don't fare much better, and it tends to look pretty silly when she guts a hulking thug with her ice axe, applying no exertion of force beyond what she can pull of with her spindly arms.
Probably because the player characters are the actual intruders instead of the enemies.
