I'm shocked there's no topic for this.

Demo on Dec 21.

I played the demo at PAX, and good lord, it was terrifying. Especially because it had noise-canceling headphones.

Very excited for this game.

If this trailer doesn't get you psyched for the game, I don't know what will:

I was a fan of the first, which in my mind only suffered from not really distinguishing itself enough.

Hope they changed up the formula a bit here. Still gonna buy it.

Seems to me Isaac is Dead Man Walking in this game, much like Resistance 2.

I'm worried about the multiplayer. It seems the developers were playing too much Left 4 Dead.

If the multiplayer is in 3rd person, then unlike Left 4 Dead, I can invite my motion-sick friends to play.

Also: Isaac can talk now... thoughts? (I don't have a preference either way)

Well, it's no longer Apocalyptic Log, and he's no longer alone. So, yeah, he talks.

Nobody posting here? There's a flurry of activity on the game's page, though =)

So, for those who've played it already, how'd it feel? For me, it was essentially Dead Space with better graphics and more impressive Mind Screw, which effectively makes this game legendary. And Isaac's voice on top of that. Bonus points for not using a single overused-in-videogames actor for the voiceovers, too.

Isaac's voice actor must've been really practicing those pained screams.

It sounds like he's really getting an arm ripped off or stabbed in the gut or what have you when it happens in game.

One of my favorite discoveries I made while playing last night is that Isaac can repeatedly stomp rather than the slow stomps in the first game. And he starts yelling "DIE!" and cursing after a while. I found it awesome since I discovered that while trying to stomp a legless acid spitter to death.

[up]Oh yeah, so running out of ammo during the Final Dungeon was a constant succession of those dying screams for me, because it took me several hours to finally get out of that six-minute-ish run from final save point near a store to final save point period.

The multiplayer is also quite fun, in an Aliens vs Predator sort of way once you learn how the (undocumented for the digital download) Necromorph controls work.

I'd like to know anyone's opinion on the Extraction port...It was a great rail shooter which I felt got really under appreciated... Not to mention that it has a plot and lots of dialogue...So did it transition well and fit in?

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the game...One of the best sequels I've played in a while! I do wonder if anyone is gonna beat Hard Core mode though...

I played the demo and I liked how they buffed a lot of the guns, the line-launcher was actually really good for once. I'll probably get it eventually.

Sadly, Extraction HD is a PS 3 exclusive =( Then again, I'm yet to complete it for the Wii, so I shouldn't really despair =)

I don't know about the guns, I used mostly the Cutter and the Ripper in the first one and only the Cutter in this one. And, well, everything they give you in multiplayer, because scarce ammo is scarce and I'm still a crappy shot whichever way you point me. Multiplayer is hella fun, though, especially since most people that play as humans tend to forget that players using Lurkers can and WILL wallcrawl to hide better. Death From Above (And Slightly To The Left) FTW!

@Noelemahc; it's a minor one, but Keith Szarabajka was TAKING DIRECT CONTROL of the previously on trailer. God I love Keith Szarabajka.

I'm only a few levels into this, btw, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm playing through Dead Space Extraction simultaneously and enjoying that too, but it's my first experience with a rail shooter and I'm not using the PS 3 Move, so the experience is probably not optimal. Love that there are so many characters though, and a lot of plot. Oh! And I've got a chance to see what Aegis 7 was like before its destruction. Super cool.

Glad there's a sequel too.

Spoilerrific, but insanely awesome. I've finished my Survivalist playthrough with great difficulty though, so am not sure whether I will ever finish Hardcore. But this awesomeness is apparently worth it:

[up]I can't tell, did the Secondary Fire do something different beside Isaac saying "pew" instead of "bang"?

Not that I saw any difference.
