Why don't you expect Sonic to return?
Welcome to th:|If you don't expect something, the surprise will be twice as big.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!^^^^ I doubt Kirby was intentionally bad in Melee. In fact, Sakurai might've messed up a bit by trying too hard with him (his moves have more references to his home series than pretty much any other character, especially in Melee) and not quite knowing how to balance it out until Brawl.

Does Mr. Game & Watch ring a bell?
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaTrue, there is that.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. His inclusion in Brawl felt cool, but rather gimmicky. That's probably a poor reason to feel the way I do, as it's a vague feeling even when I think about it.
This reminds me of how I wonder why Mewtwo was not included in Brawl. He seemed to be planned, but cut for some reason. Maybe someone should ask Sakurai, if it's not too minor and fanboyish a question. I believe that if you gave Mewtwo more reliable finishers, made his specials easier to use, and made him weigh as much as Captain Falcon, he'd be a lot more fun to play.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Wasn't there a Hand Wave for Mewtwo's weight along the lines of "he floats around a lot"?
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaMewtwo was cut from Brawl because 1: Time and resources, 2: People hated Mewtwo in Melee for some reason Sakurai couldn't fathom.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Huh. An OOT 3D stage?
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Mewtwo wasn't technically "cut". Just not finished. Only Pichu and Young Link were literally cut. The rest were planned. But anyway, I highly doubt it has anything to do with fan response overall. Mewtwo was the character that was the most done. If he was so unpopular, Sakurai would've worked on some of the other Forbidden 7. Which only Dixie he gave some attention to. Even Roy had his own ending theme. But nobody was as far as Mewtwo. So I gotta call bull on that in this case.
Also, it wasn't so much time constraints as they had to make Sonic playable at the last minute and add him into the storyline. So it's a mix of both. Sonic was definitely a last minute addition. I think Wolf might've been too, but I haven't read the information in a while. He was done pretty late, though.
Link's back! And now he can even CROUCH IN MID-AIR!
Seriously though. What's Link doing in that pic?

Eyup. I think the flames are from Mario Finale, though. Also, I wonder what triggers the bridge breaking? Cutting the ropes, maybe?
Also,I don't deny he wasn't the best of characters, but he sure was a lot of fun to play as.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaIf the Mario Finale broke the bridge, then the screen would still be dark. Unless they altered how the flames linger on the stage, I think a stage hazard would be the more likely cause of the flames.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Did the screen go dark when Samus used the Zero Laser in the Trailer?
Also, that could change. Or it could be some other attack/stage hazard, like Twinrova.
I remember the screen going dark during Miss Fit's Yoga Inferno Final Smash, so I assume darkened screens are still an effect of them.

Aw, damn. Well, stage hazard probably. Or some item being shown off. Odd. Twinrova is a possible choice, then?
Mario Finale left flames behind on platforms it passed that lingered even for a little after the screen stopped darkening in Brawl, though.
It could still be a stage element, of course.
I sure said that! What flames are people talking about? I don't see any in the pic of the weekday. NES Classic refers to Irene's post talking about Mewtwo and Sonic, but she doesn't mention any fire until several posts later. I'm confused.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"NES Classic meant to point to nomura2d's post.
I then talked about the more relevant conversation about the Gerudo Valley stage.
Oh, yeah. Whoops. I'm good at counting! I swear it!
But, the flames in question are rising up behind Link in today's picture.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaThe picture of the day shows Luigi meteor smashing (spiking?) Kirby down a ledge with his taunt. However, I found the picture everyone's talking about. I would've guessed Giga Bowser, but the screen's bright and I'm sure other people know more about final smashes than me.
Incidentally, final smashes confused me for a bit when I replayed Brawl. I thought you had to use the c-stick, only to find out that it's B. I guess the name threw me off.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"The Luigi Meteor pic is Friday's pic. The site likes to randomly show the previous day's pic for some reason...
I kinda hope (though don't expect) Sonic to return in SSB 4, if only because the existence of tripping made me uncomfortable playing him. Then again, his speed was my main problem anyway, and the new game is supposed to be faster. I have poor reflexes, so Brawl's slower gameplay was a plus to me.
I was thinking about Kirby. That guy's been all over the map when it comes to tiers. He went from top tier in 64 to bottom of the heap in Melee (as of now, slightly worse than the Pokemon designed to suck badly) to rather average in Brawl. I want to meet someone who says that Sakurai is biased towards his own characters, so I can shout, "Kirby in Melee!". I doubt that it would be the slightest bit convincing. In fact, my "argument" is severely flawed. This has been a waste of everyone's time.
