Yes, they are. And Ridley is the one with the most emotional attachment as her nemesis. He's really one of only two or three recurring threats to her, as well. Most threats Samus faces don't have a chance to recur.
I have a message from another time...Because he's pretty big.
Anyway, what were the main enemies in Corruption? I can't even remember.
Dark Samus herself, mostly, and by extension, the planet Phaaze. The Pirates were the most common enemies in the game, though they had fallen under Dark Samus' thrall thanks to extensive corruption.
The thing about Ridley's size is that it's somewhat fluid and not nearly as important to his character concept as it is to, say, Kraid.

I sure said that!He is pretty big, yes.
But then other people also say that he could be shrunk in size like Bowser technically was to be playable. They can do that, can't they?

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.So how's about stage guessing? We've already talked a bunch about a Bowser themed stage (Bonecoaster seems like a delightfully evil idea), and a bit less about some of the others, but alas - nothing about DK!
Think we'll get a Returns stage? Or perhaps Tropical Freeze, since it's coming up? I'd love a stage based on the cliffs/fossil area. Or a stage based on the area you fight Mangoruby in. If we get something from the original Country games, I'd really love a Gangplank Galleon stage.
Also, I really hope we get a stage from Wario Land as apposed to Wario Ware - that and Captain Syrup as a boss at least (if we're still getting those)

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I got my fingers crossed for a Minecart Madness stage, myself.
I sure said that!randomness: The problem with Ridley is mostly that he's big, but not bulky. Bowser is pretty bulky, so shrinking him down doesn't really make him look weird. Ridley is quite spindly, so if you shrink him down, he starts to look like a stick figure. And there are ways around it, sure, but it doesn't change the fact that there's an awkwardness to shrinking Ridley down.
^^ How do you think that'd work? Like the players are on a giant minecart hurtling through the stage, or a walkoff stage where the players are on the track and mine carts rocket past/through the area?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I'd like a Returns stage, assuming Tropical Freeze is available for use.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Also, if/when we get Sonic revealed I've really wanted an Egg Carrier stage, with this music perhaps fused with Sky Deck:
Then all the alternate stage could be some of the Eggman Base / Factory stage musics from the series - like Sky Fortress, Chemical Plant, Launch Base, Egg Fleet, Eggmanland, Asteroid Coaster...

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I'd also point out that Bowser can canonically change his size, so any "too big" arguments regarding him don't really make any sense.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Ridley's size is inconsistent too, though.
Actually, if not Egg Carrier (as much as I like it) - Death Egg Mk II! Now that'd be a rotating stage I can get behind, provided they somehow still enable it to have ledges.
Brinstar Depths is one of my favorite stages in the series, but nobody wants to play on it because... well... no ledges.
Edit: Actually, it'd be more of a gravity stage than a rotating stage, wouldn't it? I keep wondering if they're going to do that, or just ignore Super Mario Galaxy entirely...

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Minecart Madnes could perhaps take place on a mine track, with hazards being mine cart roaring past at set intervals.
I have a message from another time...How about a stage based on the Mole Train boss from Returns?
I'd kind of like a Kirby stage based on the City Trial... city from Kirby Air Ride.
I have a message from another time...All of a sudden, Dynablade out of nowhere! Boss Battle, Suckers!
Actually, that would be an interesting way to implement Boss battles for a more multiplayer Smash - instead of a single player mode, there's a "Boss Battle Mode" - several stages have their own bosses, some of which are stages also playable in other modes, and the players can fight together while possibly undermining each other.
The winner is the one who did the most damage / lost the least amount of lives.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Mantorok should be playable.
Signatures are for lamers.@Ridley is too spindly: That's why they should use Other M Ridley.◊ He's much more muscular and has a shorter neck and head which would make it easier to scale him down without looking weird or giving him unusual hitboxes. He looks a little off if you use his Brawl model in my opinion◊ but I think he'd be fine if he was his Other M design and was slightly taller than Bowser.
I kinda hope they don't go that route, actually, since it's a departure form his usual look- The teeth especially seem odd for him- But maybe something more like a Prime-style organic Ridley would work.
I sure said that!Eh, I guess (other then Phantoon) Other M's redesigns didn't bother me much. I'd still like for Dark Samus as a Prime representative, but I'm fine with a scaled-down Ridley.
Or none at all. I'll take what the future gives me.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaConversely, I liked Other M's Phantoon design.
I think they should use a model similar to Brawl's Ridley model, combined with an organic version of Prime's.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
Why do people argue that Ridley is too big as a reason he can't be playable in SSB?
