Janelle James is an American comedian, screenwriter, and actor. James first came into prominence as a stand-up comedian, being the opening act for Chris Rock's 2017 comedy tour and later releasing her own comedy album. she has written for several series such as The Rundown with Robin Thede and Black Monday.
She is also an actor, best known for her role as Ava Coleman on Abbott Elementary.
