![]() Hello!
If it's a Final Fantasy character, it would almost definitely be one that appeared as a playable character in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 or Mario Sports Mix.
Just awesome like that
They did a similar thing for the Pokemon trainer.
Not really, since Pokemon Trainer is blatantly Red in his FireRed/LeafGreen design, just not called by his name. (Possibly because every other time you play as him, you're supposed to enter a name yourself!)
![]() eep
Even so, I still kinda wish they'd called him Red. I mean, that's what he's called in his (H)G/(S)S appearance as the Bonus Boss!
Just awesome like that
But he's not playable in those games! [edit: /ninja'd] And yet, he's playable in this, as well as the games that his design is based on. The defense rests.

I'd have preferred Satoshi to be honest but I can see why they'd never go for that.

Ash is an anime only character. Doesn't mean it wouldn't have been good, but still...

You know what this means, right? In order to have a compromise, we need Team Rocket's most famous members in there. And it works as them being video game characters since they've been in Pokémon Yellow too!

Of course! I'd love that!

Ash has been on a Nintendo system, before. But the anime counterpart to Red is not actually as popular, or was a game character first. Well, Red actually was.
But anyway, was Onion Knight on the DS or GBA versions of the Final Fantasy games? If not, a generic variation of Warrior of Light makes more sense.
I'd still rather have Black Mage or Terra, anyway.
![]() Hello!
Onion Knight was, I believe.
I personally think that White or Black Mage would be the way they'd go.

Somehow when you guys say White Mage and Black Mage I always think of 8BitTheater.
Suddenly I want them in Smash with those characterizations.

Yeah, I know. A guy can dream, though.

Gilgamesh is probably the best choice - he's not just a job class, and has more appearances, main series or otherwise, than any other FF character. Coupled with his widely varying moves and considerable popularity, he is likely the best character to represent the entire series. In addition, he did originate in a game on a Nintendo home console.
( And I think I made a post incredibly similar to this a while back, but I can't find it.)

Yeah, but barely anyone cares about Pokemon Puzzle League these days.

Ash was in Puzzle League, but he doesn't originate from a video game and thus is banned. Thank God.

Hey, that was a fun game. As a kid, I had so much trouble wrapping my head around the cylinder variant, though.
I have a message from another time...

No, but the point remains that if Sakurai wanted to put him in, he could've. As a third party.
But anyway, while Gilgamesh is interesting, I'd want atleast one base protagonist. White Mage or Black Mage or Terra are all main protagonists. Which works well in this case.

Puzzle Quest.
Yeah, it cheats, but I like the premise.

Oh, I did love Pokemon Puzzle League. I still play it.
But we never play as Ash. I always play as Giovanni and Koga. My sister plays as Misty.
