Frigate Orpheon also gave you a warning when it was going to rotate. A siren would go off.

Although Orbital Gate Assault does give you a warning (It's when the missile hits the gate and the Arwings are destroying it), it's not as obvious as a siren.

To be honest, I have always been fond of the Super Metroid-inspired stages, and the little details in the background that gave them life. Rooms from a space station don't quite feel as good.

Norfair looks really good, in particular- The colors really pop.

I sure said that!

Love the Norfair stage. Music is awesome, scenery is awesome, but the lava is what keeps it from being playable. Really wish that instead of the Omega stages, we got stage modes that disabled stage hazards like that lava, the Yellow Devil, Ridley, etc. Makes the stages much easier to play on, and it would be much less resource-intensive on the dev team, since they would really only have to turn off the hazards and not create an entirely new stage model.

Funny thing is, Norfair was apparently a tournament legal stage at one point in Brawl's competitive scene.

[up][up]Even if you turn off the stage hazards the pro smashers wouldn't like the layout. That's why Norfair in Project M did more than removing the lava.

I like Norfair. The lava is kinda fun.

Wish it had Lower Norfair as a music track though.

No excuse for not even importing Magmoor Cavern's track two Smashs in a row.

Why "instead"? Why not both?

And, for the record, it IS already in the game. It toggles for 8-player Smash, without any imput, and you can't use it for standard matches. Why? I have no idea; blame Sakurai.

Omega Stages bring nothing new to the table, yet they take up development resources. Instead of getting a ton of Final Destination clones, many of which are not used in tournaments in favor of the original FD due to the fact that they each have unique geometry, why not focus those resources elsewhere? Like maybe another new stage or two?

The intent of the Omega stages - to try to give the competitive/hardcore a tournament-legal version of every stage - is certainly admirable. The problem was that all of the Omega stages were made into Final Destination clones because memes.

It would be ideal if the dev team worked on making each Omega stage viable while still unique, but even making them Battlefield clones would at least be a step in the right direction.

Like I'm pretty sure at least 10 or so stages would be made competitively viable by turning off nonsense. And Lylat wouldn't be as memey so there's that.

If we're talking about features that we'd want implemented, I'd agree on wanting a hazard switch.

I also would like the game to save rulesets for versus match. It's tiring for me to have to change the rules each time I boot up the game to 4 stock matches because the game doesn't save those settings and always defaults at time matches.

Here's a concept- In addition to standard and Omega stages, perhaps we could also get "Alpha" stages that disable hazards and "Beta" stages that use Battlefield's layout?

I sure said that!

I would like that, though it seems a tad excessive.

At least one of those would be appreciated, though I feel "Alpha Mode" thematically fits Battlefield-ified stages better than hazardless stages, due to often being the first stage shown and the first stage on the selection screen as of Brawl and 4.

Speaking of Battlefield, I think it'd be cool if in subsequent games, Big Battlefield gets a different paintjob from regular Battlefield, resembling more the psychedelic realm from 64 and Melee while regular Battlefield keeps the floating ruins aesthetic.

I'm debating on whether to buy the U game or not. I've seen plenty of people play it online but haven't budged to buy it after so long. I was waiting to see if the Switch rumors were true but that seems unlikely. However, I do think a new Switch game will come out within four years. That's long enough to get some play time in though.

The Smash Wii U community is still very active, so it's totally worth buying.

It has official tournaments, just saying.

Also, apparently Sakurai won't put Tingle in literally due to Americans Hate Tingle. Anybody have a source for this beyond the TVT page itself?

I've never heard of Tingle being a planned character. He sounds like a terrible player character anyway.

I'd personally take Skull Kid, Phantom Ganon, Impa, and Vaati over Tingle.

It's not actually bad reasoning. Remember, you want characters in that'll sell in general or be popular to most of the world. But most notably, adding in someone with a hatebase would only decrease sales. It's a basic business decision. Him being in since Melee makes sense, sure, but only as an NPC. It does a best of both worlds thing. Until the US audience starts heavily warming up to Tingle(it's certainly gotten better since Hyrule Warriors. But to be fair, only Wind Waker was a really bad appearance for the fairy man. He was somewhat annoying in FSA, but not to the same degree as WW. Everything else, including his own games, weren't issues), making him playable is a risky decision. I can't blame him for being careful.
