Glidewell is the woman who voices Zero Suit Samus in Brawl and Smash 4.

I dunno, I appreciate she sounds at least a bit tough.

I sure said that!

I agree. I really like her voice work in Smash.

Keeping it minimalist and infrequent works best, though, and I prefer their almost dehumanized Power Suited Samus we have already. She's kind of supposed to be this neutral character we can project onto, or at least that's my takeaway, and it fits with how she operates in the majority of her games.

She does grunt and stuff, it's just filtered through her helmet and comes out robotic

Is it me, or does she say "Try me" and "You're mine" in a vaguely seductive tone? I don't think I like that. Despite being smoking hot, I don't think Samus would care about trying to be sexy (don't you dare link to that hilarious comic, guys!). Given how much time she spends alone in space, you'd think she'd be really socially awkward.

It's exactly what it's suppose to be. Taunting.

I wouldn't say "You're mine" like that if I were taunting someone.

There's a certain confidence in the delivery of it.

It's also amusing.

A taunt that is cocky and potentially makes the opponent uncomfortable?

Sounds like it's working to me.

Well, I disagree. I think she sounds flirtatious, which I think is off-putting and a borderline Out-of-Character Moment.

I fine that prudish, but you don't seem like you're going to change your stance on that.

That and I find Samus' taunts to be fitting enough compared to say...Lucina who trash talks.

Lucina is one of my favorite characters, it is OOC, and I still find it amusing and wholly approve of it.

It's Smash Bros.

[up][up]You interpret that confidence as flirtation. Your problem. Not Samus's.

Also a lot of other characters have butt hit boxes (Luigi's Jab 3, Bowser Bomb, Yoshi Bomb, at least one of Wario's throws). Why is it a problem when Peach does it? Sorry my misinterpretation

[up][up] You think it's prudish that I think Samus is out-of-character in Smash?

[up] It's a woman in skintight latex saying "You're mine" in a breathy voice while twirling a whip. If you don't think that's meant to look seductive, I don't know what to tell ya.

[up]All it means is a difference in interpretation. If people don't think it was meant to be seductive, then you accept that they interpret things differently than you do and don't say anything implying negative about them seeing things differently than you do. Plain and simple.

Even if it comes off as flirtatious or seductive, that's still a form of confidence...

So whatever.

All we know about Samus as a character is that she's a space Bounty Hunter who uses ancient alien tech to shoot the heads off space dragons, who strip down for you if you complete the game fast enough. Being "seductive" may as well be in-character for her for all we know.

And No, Other M doesn't count.

We can infer a fair bit about her personality from several in-game events in the series, especially within Prime- For example, she's a total pushover for helping the helpless. Prime and Prime 2 are both charity cases.

She seems to like going out to bars based on some of the extra images at the end of the GBA games, too.

I sure said that!

I still think the "You're mine" taunt is pandering, off-putting, and out-of-character. My opinion and I'm sticking to it. If it were up to me, I'd replace it. (Maybe she chugs a mug of beer instead?)

Another taunt that needs to be replaced: Mario's Donkey Kong death animation. He should do his V-Sign pose/dance from Super Mario 64 instead.

It's been around 4 days since you first posted your thoughts on this and I want to move on from it, so anyway...

I still think the Smash 4 Port for Switch is going to happen and I'm feeling an announcement for that would be the January Nintendo Directs they always seem to do.

The thing I'm hoping for the most is really just to see if there will be a patch.

Smash Bros. isn't Mario Kart...

It deserves better than a port...

A port that has some pretty good strong new content, including fan favorites and a proper battle mode back.

I got no issues with a port if it gives us some of the roster a lot have complained about(namely, the lack of Wolf and Ice Climbers, two heavily missed veterans, other new characters like Inklings, likely someone from ARMS, and possibly more). Combined with a proper adventure mode(since Smash Run might not be there since it was intentionally meant for a pure handheld experience, never a console one. Although to be fair, that depends if Sakurai is in charge, since our only information on a Smash Switch game is that Namco-Bandai is developing it. It's a rumor, but still, all we got).

A new game later on is fine. It does make sense, that said, to wait to announce a new game or port when they got two fighting games out/coming out right now(Pokken Tournament DX and ARMS). Don't want to take them out of the competition.

I fully expect them to release a port of smash soon, probably a little after pokken comes out (or rather they can consistently stock the switch)

i also don't expect a sequel. The reason being that Nintendo struck gold with smash bros for wii u competitively, and if they bill the next smash game as a deluxe port of the previous one then they can keep the whole scene (without risk of players wishing to stick to a previous competitive meta a la melee) while still getting hella bucks for the new game (especially since mario kart 8 deluxe sold like hot cakes, proving 'deluxe ports' are very profitable).

i mean, the game will still sell amazingly regardless. but i'd rather not deal with an entire new smash scene getting into competition with the one i'm mostly a part of- and i'm not sure nintendo will want a chunk of the 'old' game cutting into potential profits of their newer one, evidenced by their lack of support for melee for the longest time.

Melee is a special case.

That and I think the competitive scene that came from Brawl onward are more willing to move on to a different game. But again, I don't think the first Smash game to be on the Switch will be a new game, but a port.

Also, to be fair, Mario Kart never got a port till now. That is, remade for a specific console(regardless of differences). It doesn't mean much. It's easy to port, of course, due to the gameplay. Obviously Smash is harder to port.

But I'm not sure why that was an example to begin with, since they got nothing in common beyond being 1st party games and having Mario characters in it(okay, and items too).

And I do think a sequel will come out eventually. But not for a long time. The Wii U version may be the least popular(between that and 3DS versions overall according to sales), but it works perfectly for tournaments. The only issue at the moment is that the official gamecube adapter doesn't work with the Switch, only the Mayflash one(which is 3rd party) does. So maybe once they get a new one ready for the sake of making it far cheaper for players to access, which'll help sales easily, we could see one. And yeah, it'd cut too much into Pokken's sales if they announce it too early, same with ARMS. It's a severely hypeworthy series, so taking some time is a good idea.

Of course, we could simply just get a sequel instead. But who knows. Both are viable options overall, really.
