Not to spoil the mood or anything but, Meta Knight's d-throw needs some serious nerfing. Something's wrong when you can just use the same thing over and over and the victim can't do ANYTHING about it...

There's something that makes Meta Knight good in this game

I was just playing Team For Fun, and my Little Mac partner held on to a Smash Ball and activated it just before time ran out. My Wii U is currently crashed.

Welp...

(I love the movie this song comes from)

What. Meta Knight's down-throw doesn't combo into itself. Not even against heavyweights at 0%.

Maybe I should have worded that a little better. My opponent used d-throw, did some stupidly insane or spammy combo in the air, let me hit the ground, and down-b into another grab. All I could do was helplessly tumble into more and more grabs.

You're not referring to Footstools, are you?

If you aren't, then assuming you didn't get the chance to land properly, all it should really take is a spot-dodge for a relatively clean punish.

Meta Knight does have some ridiculous setups involving footstools but other than that there's nothing preventing you from dodging his grabs.

I am not referring to Footstools, he didn't use a single one and this guy always knew exactly what I was doing, no matter what, so his own personal skill in reading his opponent flawlessly may have contributed to that, but there was no way for me to escape once he got ahold of me.

[up][up][up] Sounds like you just got outplayed really badly.

Also fun fact but someone in Smashboards started making a ranking based on the height of the characters in the game.

... Apparently Greninja is the shortest character when standing, with Meta Knight and Pikachu right behind him.

I know Greninja sticks stupidly close to the ground, but damn.

I'm guessing the space helmet screws Olimar over in that regard, right?

[up][up] Yah, he's actually the sixth smallest when standing, losing to the three mentioned, Kirby and Jigglypuff.

Greninja also has the 6th lowest crouch in the game, losing only to Pikachu, Jigglypuff, G&W, Kirby and Wii Fit Trainer.

Crouching is really arbitrary. Kirby becomes as like paper, while Meta Knight - who is the exact same height - doesn't actually get any closer to the ground.

Then again, Kirby doesn't have a thick flipping mask getting in the way.

The only big problem I have with Meta Knight in Smash 4 (and "big" is exaggerating a little) is that he has a very easy way to kill by abusing the new ledge grabbing mechanics. By grabbing onto the edge shortly after your opponent does, you force them off into a backwards hop before they can initiate an option, but Meta Knight is fast enough to chase immediately after that and get an aerial or up special, which, at that distance, can kill at low percentages, and definitely screw over low-recovery guys.

And, worst, the whole process can be repeated pretty easily by just waiting for the opponent to come back to the ledge.

Again, a little biased here, since Dedede has some poor non-ledge grabbing options. Still though, wah.

Most characters can do something like this, Greninja can edgeguard someone by doing that with a B-Air instead.

And you think Meta Knight is bad? Just wait for Lucas to arrive and start stealing ledges and following that up with a meteor B-Air.

Wouldn't said b-air have considerably more windup and vulnerability than any of the ones listed?

Yeah it's the super-fast aerials that are a problem, especially since even Dedede's neutral-air requires a hot second to pop out, and Meta Knight can take a piss, grab the morning paper, brew some coffee, and update his Facebook in that time while in the air.

IIRC it's not too hard to get a follow up from a ledge trump with a lot of characters if you get off the ledge immediatelly. Captain Falcon's own back-air is frame 10 and he can do it so if you time it right then it should be possible to do with Lucas as well and it's frame 15. It's probably escapable but no less dangerous.

Lucas also has the benefit of having a tether recovery to force people out of the ledge even easier which certainly helps.

Even if it's escapable, having a setup that leads into something that can kill very early especially on characters with bad recoveries is kind of a big deal.

You can tell how excited I am for Lucas tongue

Unless you immediately rise up, tethering the ledge doesn't knock someone else off.

Yes which can work to your advantage if the opponent is going for the ledge and climb up just as they grab it.
