The lag that tends to pervade FF can be troublesome, too.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805The lag is worse in For Fun?
There's one big issue with time matches, and that's the fact that you're at an extreme disadvantage if you have a character without easy KO moves. Even if someone like Bowser is an easy target, you're still at a fundamental advantage when you can actually score points.
I don't like competitive matches with friends, because a friend of mine takes things way too seriously, even when we agree to play casual matches with items on or on batshit crazy stages.
He always comes up with excuses or "johns" about how he only lost because the stage screwed him or how he shouldn't have gone for an item.
Hell, once I beat him with a well-timed Falcon Punch and thought it was hilarious, not because I won but because a KO actually happened, but he kept bitching that it was because the stage forced him into it.
Ugh.
As a fellow sore loser, I extend my sympathies to your friend.
It could explain why i rate killing power higher on characters than most, because ever since Brawl i've preferred time to stock, so my mains are all either outright heavy hitters (Bowser, Ike, Dedede, Pac Man), or have a handful of good launching moves (Kirby), and why i find characters like Meta Knight or Sonic to merely be an exercise in frustration.
But then, heavy hitters can do good in "For Glory" conditions, as long as you learn the tools of the trade for damage-racking per character.
Seriously, try it, it's fun.
- Lags down to 1 FPS (That's not an exaggeration. I kept thinking my 3DS froze.)
- A million things going on on the screen at once like what
- Possibility of Wily's Castle being chosen
- Possibility of Gustbellows appearing
I've tried it before, and I'll pass, thanks.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheerdont 4 players turn off the yellow devil in wily castle?
No, it keeps the devil and removes the platforms.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI really don't think Wily's Castle is that bad. The Yellow Devil never caused me problems.
It's pretty disruptive to the flow of the fight, though.
I really wish it was possible to play Wily's Castle without but with the platforms- It's like a shifting Battlefield variant, with one main platform and a handful of light platforms that take different forms.
I sure said that!Yeah, it automatically turns the fight into even more of a camp-fest.
Speaking of which, if I don't start finding effective KO moves soon, I'm going to start going crazy. All too often, I completely dominate a match, I get the opponent over 170% with hardly a scratch, but then I try to land one smash attack and everything falls apart. I lose 0-2. That sums up just about every match I play.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerWhat about Magicant?
Those Flying Men man! >.<
Even with these awkward wings, dyed with images that seem to stay. I'm sure we can fly, on my love! 3DS Friend Code: 2809-9138-8756At least Flying Man doesn't take up the entire damn screen.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerAt that point couldn't you KO with a grab if a Smash attack is being difficult to land?
Oh God, those things. Annoying pseudo assist trophy bullshit.
The problem arises when the characters with good means to rack up damage don't have any way to KO except at ludicrous percentages, whereas the ones who don't can KO at absurdly low percentages.
1, no I couldn't, and 2, that's even harder! Grabs don't have any range anymore and the ones that do have way too much lag.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerReally? I have no problem grabbing my opponents, in fact that's probably how I rack up the most damage.
yeah fullmoon i...dont think grabs are "easier" than smash attacks. i have no idea how you can so consistantly grab.
Are For Fun and For Glory the only ways to play? If so, that seems really restrictive. Either you play timed matches which no one likes, or you play exclusively on Final Destination, which no one likes.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Clearly, Greninja is overpowered.
I main Yoshi, G-dubs, and Marth, three of the worst grabbers in the game.

I can get behind time matches when there's three or four parties involved, since it means no one's sitting out for the remainder of the match after a certain point.
Stock all the way for 1-on-1 and 2-on-2, though.
I sure said that!
