I like how everbody hates Joffrey, even though he didn't say anything, even from people who never read the books. It does ruin the surprise a tiny bit though.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. What surprise? I do regret them removing that scene too.
Which, the one where he's training with the Stark kids and being an utter prick about it?
Well, there's still plenty of room for characterization on the road south.
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.Yeah, that's the one. I meant to describe it, must have forgot. Showed his character right off.
Yeah, that was really good work by the young Jack Gleeson, playing Joffrey. I hadn't read the books (now been encouraged by the show to buy volume 1) and just his expression as he rode in made me think 'this is one arrogant princeling'.
It ain't over 'till the ring hits the lava.
Oh, you have no idea. Prince Joffrey is easily the biggest piece of *hit in these books...and that's including Viserys Targaryen. The casting for both characters seems to me to be spot on. I guess we'll have to see more though.
Yeah Joffrey just gives off a vibe, The actor is either amazing or genuinely creepy
I thought the actress who plays Sansa stark was too old or something she's 16 I don't know how old the characters supposed to be on the show

Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyFourteen I think she said to Cersei, but I could be wrong. They did change Robb and Jon's ages, so the sparring scene wouldn't work directly, as it seems they kept Joffrey young
Cersei also asked her directly if she'd bled yet, so she's not yet reached puberty.
It ain't over 'till the ring hits the lava.I laughed when she asked If she had Bled yet, I liked the odd(by our standards) phrasing and how inappropriate it is to ask someone that
Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyHaven't had a chance to see it yet, but I do wonder how the people will react to the Values Dissonance. Something like this can easily lead to a lot of Fandumb.

It's an HBO series marketed as edgy. Values Dissonance is practically why it exists.
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard. The fandumb is already out in droves. Check out Youtube. It's full of ridiculous remarks.
In answer to a question about Sansa Stark however-in the book, she's 11. In the series she's 13. Danaerys who is 13 in the books, is about 15 or 16 in the series, I think. Bran who was 7 in the book is now 10. Robb and Jon are both 15 in the books and 17 (I think) in the series). Rickon, who was 3-is now 6. I don't think they mentioned Arya's age in the series but in the book she was 9 so she's probably 11 here.
The Producers aged everybody up a couple of years (even the adults) because of the inherent problems of using a cast that young. Martin has totally signed off on it and has admitted that he made an error in making them so young.
If you judge a fandom — any fandom — by its YouTube comments, you'll never come up with any judgments other than "offensive, drama-ridden, and functionally retarded".
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.
Yeah, that's pretty much my assessment of them, right there.
Finally getting around to watch it. Wasn't sure I'd like the show, but so far, I'm absolutely loving it. Eager for more.

"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."It gets better, trust me.
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.I'm not sure how to interpret that.
I really liked how they began and ended the episode with two of the moments that really defined the book for me. Actually, "defined" might not be the right word. But they were the moments that I was like, "okay, I definitely want to keep reading this book."
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Those who have seen the first six episodes keep saying that the best is yet to come. If that is true, then I'd say we are in for some amazing television. The first episode was by no means perfect but this is one of those shows that you need to judge as a full season. Individual episodes are not going to stand out as much because the emphasis is on the season arc.
I dunno how to feel about the show, although I think it's just the fact that the idea of seeing fanservice in fantasy is rather odd to me and that the show defies most preconceptions I have about the genre.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.^That is entirely the point.
The Philosopher-King ParadoxOh, I know it's the point. I just don't know if I like the point.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.New episode!
I think the kids playing Joffrey and Arya are perfect.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Arya's actor is just really, really good. Joffery is, well he's a bit of a shit really. His acting's okay, but I get the feeling that he could descend into narh-narh-nahr evil scenery chewing at a moment's notice.
I'm loving the show, though the pacing in this episode was rough. Not as bad as True Blood's episode structures, but the first half of the episode was a little "loose", structurely speaking. The second half was much more focused. I guess that comes with adapting from a book.
Was there any good reason for... Jamie?/The blonde incesty brother (oh, that's specific), to intimidate John Snow at the start? Or was he just being a prick? Why target him?
Also: Yay lesbian subtext! (Along with incest, it's an HBO staple. I'd be sad to see its absense.)
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.
Well, the book had Bran pulled up too, but after dangling, in the episode it just lacked the impact, as he just moved back, no dangling, no scrabbling. So I just wasn't quite satisfied.
Of course, I also missed them naming the wolves.
