Even when they're stealthy wizards still make noise right? They still sneeze, they give off smell and body heat don't they? There's a reason why we still use dogs.

I do remember reading in the Beasts book that there was a parasite that pretty much lives by breaking electronics and are pretty much undetectable by Muggles (was kinda Rowling's WMG about why stuff breaks, I think). I suppose it would be possible to farm those and drop them all over the Pentagon?

Yes. But the dogs would have been ripped to shreds way back in the Forbidden Forest.

Also: Hahaha, I like that idea :P

How would they disperse them through the air? Apparate w/o falling to your death? Fly in on brooms w/o getting shot down? Dragons? Just a big target for a stinger.

@Cygan Angel: If anything the dogs would out last the humans. Unless they adopted a policy of flaming the general area the dog barks at. better safe than sorry.

If I was a betting man I would say that myself and Kino are confident in a muggle victory while Cygan is looking for the best methods for the Wizards to win. Mellon, who do you think would win?

And why is there a war exactly? What are the objectives?

Oh, of course I didn't mean literally dropping them from the sky. [lol]

How long would it take to apparate in and out?

The Death Eaters attacked and leveled Los Angeles;

the Muggles retaliated against the whole Wizrding population;

and so the Wizards are fighting back.

I'm half asleep and naming thing off the top of my head. there are guys in the gov who get paid lots of money to think of ways to win.

Wonder if they're hiring.

Have we considered the part where someone apperates into the President's office and either captures him or kills him outright?

Yes, but what is the aim of the muggles? What is their goals? Nuetralize the threat of wizard attacks? How? Kill all the wizards? If so then forget everything I've said I'll just go with Kino's ideas.

^ That's what Joe Biden is for.

Cygen: Traitor!tongue

Also, this seems to have become America vs Wizarding world at large. by which I mean the British wizards since they are the only ones we know about. How does the UK feel about the US conducting a war on their soil and subjects?

See, that's the thing. Any sort of security muggles could set up is kind of broken by the whole idea that a wizard could just pop up out of nowhere and potentially telefrag their target...

@ Schol: Meh, it's hard to say because I don't know the limits of magic very well (were they even established that well in the first place?) I mean, HP is mostly set in Wizard College so we haven't seen much of what the average competent wizard can do, or what Aurors can do. Peter Pettigrew, who was described as pretty lame, apparently knew a spell that was powerful enough to destroy a block and kill 13 people or something like that.

We also don't know how knowledgeable the wizards would be of muggles, so would they know to go after strategic... things? I was imagining wizards in the oil countries infiltrating oil wells and transfiguring all the oil in the ground into orange juice, do the same for coal and natural gas, and then no more cars, tanks, trains, airplanes, or boats. If they took out the electrical grid, that would not be pleasant for muggles either.

They also have stuff like the Imperius curse, would muggles have a way of detecting that? I don't think I have to outline how that would be useful.

There's also animagi, I suppose you could train wizards to change into stuff like very small insects, that might be useful for spying. Could there be a bacterium or amoeba animagi?   Now this is getting silly

But if wizards decided to go into all-out war, they would not win, I think.

Teleporting in? Well that wizard better hope he can say the words faster than the Secret Service can pull the trigger. As for me talking about America..well I'm American; I have no idea how the UK operates.

And I'm pretty sure Pettigrew hit a gas pipe.

Thats a lot of oil to transform. And how many wizards can you have doing it without them getting shot up? If the wizards launch a full scale attack on muggle resources then it would be a crippling blow but one muggles could overcome eventually. No oil? Go back to coal. No grids? build new ones. Ultimately that strategy would depend on the muggles losing the will to fight after what is supposed to be a knockout punch. Kind of like what the Japanese planned for Pearl Harbor. Except, you know, working.

That's asuming said wizard doesnt catch a bullet to the head as soon as he pops in. Assuming the pres. is not a decoy? I'm sure there'll be 5 SS guys tagging along for the ride.
