I upgraded my phone so now I can play Skullgirls mobile. Have they said what the beta test reward is for it yet?

"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguySo the mobile Game updated today with a new section: Orgin Stories! Starting off with Peacock, and soon others shall follow
Story starts off with the ASG lab members raiding a Medici warehouse, where all they kept their kidnapped slaves. Valentine helps take the refugees with Las Hope while Big Band and Lab 8 dealwitht he thugs, which is how Patricia was found, bloody beaten and about to die, covered in a stained cloth so they couldnt see her face. Realizing she was being rescued she immediately wanted to join up with them and get revenge ASAP, so the ASG crew take her back to save her life and outfit her with some experimental equipment.
Once she started from surgery, the Avery Unit and Argus Drive started working better than expected, and T Ommy 10 Tons now just..exists. Andy soon follows. Big Band is confused and it isnt too long before Peacock busts out the lab and wreacks some havoc on Maplecrest to enjoy her new free life and powers. Big Band eventually tracks her back and reigns her in before anything REALLY dangerous happens.
Haven't gotten too far in Peacock's origin story yet, does she ever get her driver's license?
With a "0", not an "O".Sooo... does anyone want to hear about what happened to the Skullgirls fangames and how they've halted all progress?
"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses." - Flower Knight DakiniSure. Not much else going on.
Okay, first there's the Annie game. The story seemed to be presented like a series of episodes of her show where she was going around defeating the base cast of the game with the looming threat of her evil doppleganger, Anais. It was going to visually be like classic Mega Man with a shop like the recent games and dashing and sword techniques like the games with Zero. It was making good progress before the guy making it dropped off the face of the earth.
Then there's the RPG Maker game that was pretty mediocre. Nothing noteworthy about it other than the creator was going to kill Minette off for no real reason. Eventually it just stopped being updated.
Finally, there's the one I'm most disappointed about the lack of anything related to it: Skulldate. It was supposed to be a joint effort between several different writers with everyone working separately. The only completed route is Squigly's which has a lot of effort put into it and while some of the information used might not line up with the actual lore, the writer at least made the effort to have it make sense with the limited knowledge at hand.
However, shortly after completing the route, Squigly's writer was banned from the Skull Heart forums by the other writers. Presumably. I don't know the entire story, but he's definitely been banned and the other guys aren't particularly torn up about it. The only other route with any significant progress is Cerebella's, which I think is only okay so far. The new art made for it is my favorite part about it. Of course, there hasn't been any updates in months, not even from the writers who were supposed to be working on Peacock and Filia.
tl;dr, even the production of fan games aren't safe from the curse

"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses." - Flower Knight DakiniNot to try to brush your news under a rug, but Maximilian Dood streamed Skullgirls for the first time since version 1 about 4-5 years ago and had a ton of fun, wanted to try to get back into it. The SG part hit 7.89k views at one point!
Also in Mobile news, big update is coming to it which also contains Big Bands orgin story, which should give us more detail on the Contelo incident too
Cool, cool.
"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses." - Flower Knight DakiniSo Big Band's origin came out for Mobile.
Ben was investigating a gambling ring the Medicis were running and his boss, Sarge, told him that a task force was already going to handle it. He runs into the Mafia goons and beats them up in time for Sarge and the rest of the force (minus Irvin) to show up and reveal they're on the Medici payroll and cripple him.
Irvin takes Ben to the hospital where Avian offers to augment him. It turns out Stanley was the one that provided most of tools his new body uses and helped get him accustomed to it. Irvin shows up again and Ben christens himself Big Band and the two decide to attack the new gambling site.
The Medicis moved the ring to their tower and Big Band beats up everyone and confronts Sarge, who tries to apologize to Black Dahlia. Sarges slips away, and Big Band decides to work independently, but says that Irvin can contact him anytime. Sarge tries to explain things to Lorenzo, but he decides he's outlived his usefulness and has him offed while he sets up plans for the River King Casino.

"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses." - Flower Knight DakiniUpdate on the current situation of all things SG related. SG tour is underway, Mobile has been doing great and is continuing to pump out the lore, and as for SG 2....no plans yet but mainly because Autmn is still recovering from going broke and is being very cautious about its funds. Indivisible has to be finished before even considering SG 2 a reality.
I guess that answers some of my following disappointments.
The characters, world, and overall style of this is game is fascinating, but I really don't care for competitive fighting game mechanics, so I've mainly been reading up on it on the Wiki and watching the endings. I'm also a bit peeved I bought the original version only to find out they were re-releasing it with a fully-voiced story mode. So, that.
I was browsing the Wiki and between hearing about alternate timelines and some kind of Recursive Fiction going on with Eliza or Double (been awhile), I just stumbled upon this while looking at Filia's supposed concept art:
This is the Alternate Samson bio. I assume we have this information from a summary provided on the indiegogo page or whatever. This was the final goal for all of the donating, but, my question is, what happened to this? Did they not make enough? It seemed like there were a ton of other DLC characters coming out - Big Band, Fukua - or at least additional content that was keeping this thread alive. So what happened to this idea? Because this... this is one of the most interesting, darker parts of Skullgirls lore I've read. I wish they'd kept stuff like this - I read about how they were originally going to have a couple of endings for everybody, and one of Filia's had something to do with Samson trying to prevent her from restoring her memories and implying he's dealt her parents some kind of grisly fate.
But it seems like that, and Alternate Samson, were lost in the sauce somewhere.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!If I recall, they scrapped the idea in pre-release.
Making characters is very expensive. The money from the campaign was used to make Squiggly, Big Band, and then two characters that were voted on by donators. They showed off art and concepts of Basically every important character and the characters that were chosen to make playable were Eliza and Beowulf. And then it turned out there was enough money left over to make Robo-Fortune, since she was an edit of Ms. Fortune and not a brand new character. Fukua was an april fools character made in about a week who went "legit" after enough balance patches.
Yeah, Alternate Samson was one of the characters who was up for voting. He lost.
Honestly, the sheer amount of good ideas present in the DLC voting makes thinking of What Could Have Been kind of painful.

It's painful to me that a palette swap of Filia and a robotic version of Fortune won over a Darker and Edgier What If? version of Filia, one that might have expanded the character a bit more even.
I don't know too much about Squiggly or Big Band though.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!They didn't win. Fukua was a prank after the Decapre reveal trailer for Ultra Street Fighter IV, but the community liked her enough that Mike left her in. Robo Fortune was a meme that ascended once they realized they had funds leftover for a clone ish character.
Yeah, there's no way they could have made the Samson from that concept art just by editing some of Filia's sprites.
The characters that won the contest were Eliza and Beowulf. Everyone else was Lab Zero's choice.
The real characters who should be in that aren't are Umbrella, Annie, and Black Dahlia, who were originally meant to be in the base game (along with Squigly) and are allegedly necessary for the "canon story."
I personally voted over and over again for Stanley, because an anthropomorphic shark seemed more important than these other characters.
I don't want to sound inflammatory, but am I the only one who thinks it's strange that nobody complains about this game being sexist?
I thought something like that did happen in its history, if I remember someone's signature on the Skullhearts forum correctly.
With a "0", not an "O".Oh, I'm sure people do.
I have a message from another time...Of course it has those kind of complaints. You're not going to hear much on that front nowadays because the game doesn't have much of a presence like it did at release (I think only fans and parts of the Fighting Game Community talk about it with any sort of regularity).
It's a fun game, but it's rather prone to crashes on my phone.
