Now, I'm totally aware that there is a Video Game Deals thread, but usually, when a steam sale comes up, it leaks into other threads anyway. Since this one goes until the 29th, with new deals every day. I figured we could discuss this sale and the inevitable Christmas sale, here.

We've already missed the first day, but for the next fourteen and a half hours, you can get the following:

  • Eve Online: Tyrannis for 5.00 USD
  • Defense Grid: The Awakening for 2.50 USD
  • Cities XL 2011 for 29.99 USD
  • Deathspank for 10.04 USD
  • Audiosurf for 2.50 USD
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum for 10.20 USD
  • Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days for 5.00 USD
  • The Indie Story Pack for 4.99 USD
    • It is comprised of And Yet It Moves, Gish, Jolly Rover, Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent, and Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. This would normally cost you 59.95 USD

There are also daily gift packs that include multiples of a game so you can gift some to your friends, today's are:

  • 10 pack of Defense Grid: The Awakening for 14.99 USD
  • 12 pack of Audiosurf for 19.99 USD
  • 6 pack of Left 4 Dead 2 for 24.99 USD
  • 10 pack of Puzzle Quest 2 for 34.99 USD

It should be noted that for the rest of this sale, 30 people will be awarded the top 5 games on their wishlists. This will be a daily occurrence.

Yesterday I bought AA different indie pack for Five dollars, Which included Quant Z, Brainpipe, Galconn Fusion, Gridrunner revolution and Proto Galaxy.

Also Sam and M Ax seson 3 was only $10 but I decided against it as I just finished tales of monkey island and I didn't feel like going through another adventure game.

Couldn't resist the sirens song of 90% off. Managed to restrain myself as I don't need more distractions on games I wouldn't be any way interested in otherwise.

Also there's a Left 4 Dead Six pack I can gift to friends, which I'm mildly considering as I need 3 people to play Left 4 Dead 2 with.

I got Beat Hazard yesterday, though I don't think that's part of the sale.

I have like three or four items on my wishlist so far.

EDIT: Make that five. For anyone who is curious, my Steam nickname is RocketRunner-Not a Spy.

My username is the obvious (ColorPrinter) and I have a nicely sized wishlist.

I hope Left 4 Dead (or L4D2) goes on sale soon. I'd buy the gift package but that's still too expensive.

How do you guys get enough space for Steam games? My computer barely had enough space for TF 2.

Aww, dang it, I missed two days of this sale D= Oh well, my chance of winning is small anyway xD At least now I have created a wish list for sole purpose of this =P

There's still about eleven hours left for today's deals. Each sale day ends at 1 pm EST.

I meant from the "30 people get 5 top games" thing xD I don't have any way of currently buying any game I would want.(aka, I lack credit card and because bank screwed up, I don't have ability to pay with my debit card. And parents are annoyed if I ask them.)

Just got the Indie pack with Recettear. Pretty sweet deal going at just $5. I mean yes, I am still explicitly saving for the Holiday sale, but once again, I came across a sale that I find difficult to pass up. Furthermore, some other games look rather interesting, though I already do own Gish via the Humble Indie Bundle.

Swear to god Steam's going to make me go broke this month. I rarely buy games full retail and in the last month I bought Fallout NV and Mass Effect 1-2, but while all three falsely claim to be RP Gs, they were hugely enjoyable nonetheless. Yesterday was Alpha Protocol for ~$8 (regular price is still $30, apparently, for what amounted to a craptacular story, consistent mediocrity in all gameplay mechanics, and another game falsely claimed as an RPG). Then, right when I wished I could've gotten Batman: Arkham Asylum for the ~60% discount, they put it up again this morning!

When I was twelve and discovered girls, my deltoids and triceps/biceps brachii were a massive bastion of steely muscle and sinew. After this weekend, my thumb will come out looking like Dolf Lundgren!

Anyone know if Cities XL is worth the SecuROM?

Also, already picked up the Indie Drugs Action Pack, Poker Night at the Inventory (even though it wasn't technically on sale), Defense Grid Awakening, and RUSE. Would have picked up Deus Ex but I already have a hard copy of the first so yeah. Batman Arkham Asylum's tempting me too, but I'm not sure if the PC port is decent or not.

The only problem I encountered with the PC port is that it doesn't like many controller pads - but if you download one of the X Box 360 controller emulators, it'll work fine. Other than that, it was a flawless experience.

[up] Emulate the 360 controller for Arkham Asylum? If so, why? If you're running Windows, just plug in your 360 controller and go get some. It's one of the few games I'd advocate USING a 360 controller over a mouse + keyboard.

@Erikkson - Yes, it's very good. Damn good, in fact. I wouldn't hesitate to spend ~$10 for it (or whatever the price is where you're at, provided its discounted).

Because that doesn't work when all your 360 controllers are wireless, or you don't own the system at all. Granted you could just buy a wired controller, but if you already have a PC gamepad, the software gets it working for free.

Deals just changed.

Tropico 3, Machinarium, and Torchlight are all under 10, oh and did I mention the five-dollar Indie Clever Pack with World Of Goo and VVVVVV in it?

Are Tropico 3 and Cities XL 2011 worth it?

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

I personally liked tropico 3 but really YMMV as for the other game I wouldn't know. Also Warhammer 40k Dawn of War Gold edition is only $13.60

Extremely tempted to buy that Warhammer game...but I know there'll be a game I want more in the later days...

At least, I hope so.

I can't wait for Steam's christmas sale...and by can't wait, I mean immensely dreading the day that Valve separates me from the contents of my wallet with a series of games I had no desire to play prior to the sale.

I mean, I own a mac, I can't even play half the games I've bought recently, but they came in gift packs where buying the packs would've been cheaper than buying the individual games I wanted. Assuming I even wanted any of them and was just tempted into buying something for 90% off...

Considering buying the portal pack as I know a few people who need to play it, but there is going to be SOMETHING I'm going to buy in the next three days, and I only have so much money saved up.

Damn them and their low low prices. Is that a trope I'm forgetting?
