...hasn't been announced. They're doing a series of downloadable games, and this is the second. Two more unannounced games are in the pipeline.

In the meantime, might I recommend you Costume Quest? There's DLC coming in Decemberrrrrr...

nRegarding Psychonauts 2, here's been talk, what I said it was moreof a joke than anything. But 4 DLC games? Huh. Tried the Costume Quest demo, didn't really like it. But this looks fiiiine.

Ha! That trailer looks awesome and hilarious. Also, is that thing where he breaks into another model's body some sort of mind hack/disguise feature? This looks so fun. Gonna try and get this as soon as it comes on Steam. Hopefully this game will be successful enough to get THQ to support Psychonauts 2.

EDIT: That walkthrough makes me want it even more, but far out why is it just on XBLA and PSN?! Bring it to Steam people!

Wait, what? It's always been a Q1 2011 release.

Also, word of advice:

Maybe if enough people buy Stacking, Schafer will get to work on Psychonauts 2, too.

Or maybe he'll just make more downloadable games that have nothing to do with pre-existing properties. Or Brutal Legend 2 will get re-greenlit. Or he'll beat George Lucas at thumb wrestling and be awarded the rights to Full Throttle 2 as his prize.

Dude, please stop doing this. Your article was fine up until that.

Schafer: Psychonauts 2 Needs Funding

At last week’s THQ showcase in New York, Videogamer.com asked if Psychonauts 2 was likely to happen, and he gave yet another broad hint that he’s waiting to begin work on the game – if a publisher will fund it.

Maybe you should quit while you are still ahead, hm?

And yet he has two more downloadable games in the pipeline that he needs to get published first.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/12/thq-needs-your-money-to-publish-more-double-fine-games/

He reiterated that, currently, his studio only has a two-game contract with Double Fine: the aforementioned Costume Quest and Stacking. "There's a few more that I've identified, but I haven't made those deals yet," Bilson told us. He then paused before adding, "We've gotta get some hits rolling so I have more money to spend, to be honest with you." And between Homefront, Red Faction: Armageddon and Stacking, there's ample opportunity for that money to be made in the first quarter of 2011.

So presumably, selling a lot of copies of Stacking is going to get at least one non-Psychonauts game made. That's a heck of a more logical conclusion based on actual evidence.

Furthermore, even your your article notes that if he can get a publisher interested, it might happen. But it doesn't look like he's actually shopping it around. Selling copies of an unrelated game, and a download title at that, don't necessarily get publishers interested in unrelated properties, especially when his current publisher is already looking at the two other games we know Double Fine has in the pipeline when they announced they were creating four downloadable games.

EDIT: Oh yes, and then on top of the download games that we know are coming, Ron Gilbert has a project with Double Fine as well.

Yep. PSN or Xbox Live.

I already like it a lot more than Costume Quest, lack of badass Statue of Liberty notwithstanding.
