I thought it was pretty clear. They both drop hints through idle conversation. Like, all of the hints come out while the characters just chat.
Hah, all the characters being the same in the sequel was my first thought too. But not that all of them would simply be in disguises though, I was thinking there's some channelling going on.
But this is too obvious, knowing Uchikoshi's style from Ever17/Remember11/999. There's going to be a whole new TomatoSurprise after tons of danger, mind games, and smaller pieces of the puzzle. Ohgod, I'm already hyped for Good People Die.

So, today I realized something interesting about Ace's choice of codename.
In many card games, the Ace is the highest-valued card that doesn't have a face.
I have a message from another time...At least he's got a sense of humor about it.
You thought six endings was a lot to try for, eh?
TWENTY-FREAKING-FOUR ENDINGS.
O Ne thing's for sure, they ain't screwin' around when it comes to replay value.
(Oh, and those of you who haven't beaten the first game, I recommend not clicking over, since it contains some roundabout spoilers for 999.)
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaHOLY CRAP YES
Even though it's claimed that this game works as a standalone, the revelation of Sigma's... interesting ability seems to me like it might be heading towards Continuity Lockout there.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThere will be at least one ending where everyone gets a chance to kill someone else.
That many endings implies to me that most of them aren't very different from each other. Somewhat disappointing to me.
Also, explicitly revealing the protagonists power like that is certainly a different choice.
24 endings...it just boggles the mind. You've got different combinations of people surviving, picking different dialogue options, the possibility that some endings won't be available until you reach other ones...
I only hope that the actual puzzle segments are enjoyable. In the first game, after already reaching the five other endings, I had practically memorized the combination from the opening challenge and found that being forced through it again was just tedious. Having to tackle certain rooms upwards of ten times? It could be a tad annoying.
Perhaps there's a possibility of getting certain endings "together," as it were. To my understanding (I haven't played them), that's sort of how some of the Star Ocean games work: There's multiple endings, but not all of them are mutually exclusive, and you can fulfill the conditions for certain endings during your playthrough and see all the ones you've managed to unlock at the end.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaHow old was she in 999, again?
I have a message from another time...This is news?
18, wasn't it?
yes, so I guess you can feel safe when you play that flashgame, because at least she's legal.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadWait what? o_O
Incidentally, there's nothing scary in the flash...is there? I scare easily.
Wait, what? O_O
I just Googled this link and apparently it's...what!? @_@

Let's just say that it may be for the best that I wasn't able to get past the 3rd door.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadso,my uncle gave me a 3DS on my birthday some months ago, should I buy this game?I know it's from the same guys that made Ever 17 and I loved that game,is this one as great as well?or there are better games in the genre that I should get for my DS?
You should definitely buy it.
Like, right now.

no,I meant 999.Never owned a DS,and now I have a 3DS,so I think I will get some DS games too.I just want to hear some opinions.
I know. I fixed my post to reflect that.
while we're at it,will I enjoy Ghost Trick as well?
Absolutely.
It's not as dark as 999, but still a great game.
^^^ I had read Ever17 first too, but I never realised they were related or had the same writer. My mind went bonkers for a while after playing 9.9.9, and then I learnt some history about the game and suddenly it all made sense.
EDIT: Oh, pointing three posts above on a new page. Awkward.
