Eh, it's a perfectly reasonable stance; just one that I, myself, cannot take up because of that pesky conscience thing.

If the conscience is unreasonable the conscience is wrong.

See? Statements like that keep getting me branded as some kind of Complete Monster!

In all seriousness, I would encourage anyone who feels their conscience is being unreasonable to re-evaluate, as if you're truly convinced your conscience is right, then there must be some position under which that position is reasonable.

There's a distinction between "being right" and "right."

Obviously, a braggart who insists on always being right on the internet is some sort of hooligan-oh those obnoxious uptight sorts who'll never allow an argument to drop!

However, I believe that truth is not only an inherent virtue in its own right, but also that holding an accurate model allows one to better shape the world in a positive manner.

In short, "more important than right or wrong" strikes me as a bit of a misnomer-as I would imagine knowing what things are "rightly more important" is one particular example.

Got any nominations?

I'd nominate myself, but even I'm not that arrogant.

I nominate Tomu for his frequent wit, and his ability to cheer me up three days out of every four (which is pretty good considering how I come here only six days out of every eight).

Starship, no offense, but it's kind of annoying to give MOF Ws for posting opinions.

Yeah, Starship, no offense, but a MOFW doesn't just mean "I liked this"; it means "I think the entire forum would like this".

Gentlemen (ladies) I don't need to justify my selections to any of you, but I'm gracious enough to do so in this instance. Might I remind you that every single post here is a case of YMMV. Every single example of MoFW is deemed awesome by some, but not for others. Some might think they're not that clever or funny, or they're innaccurate, or perhaps they're just an "opinion", or whatever. I'm afraid, there are going to be selections you won't like, that doesn't make them invalid. So, might I suggest you accept this basic fact, and get over it.

And yes Wave, you are oversensitive. In my opinion.

Actually ,come to think of it, according to the Made of Win page, it's not even "I think the forum would like this" but more "This is how it's done! HEEEYAW!"

Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Take it down a notch, no one is personally insulting you by telling you that your examples are perhaps "suboptimal"

Tomu, you should know me well enough to know that even if you were personally insulting me, I wouldn't care.

What I'm saying is that four people jumping into express how "suboptimal" my examples are with something as flimsy as, "it doesn't fit our notion of what should be here" is protesting way too much.

I could apply that limp logic to 16 out of 18 examples on each page. When I see examples I don't find particularly exemplary or awesome, I keep my "add post" button shut and keep it moving.

[down] Heh. That's clever here's a [awesome] for you. I'm still going to add examples at will as I see fit regardless of your alleged "validity", but the attempt was a good one.

[up][up]Basically what everyone seems to be getting at, and you seem to be missing is that Made of Forum Win is for posts that can be enjoyed mostly without regard for the opinions of the reader, not for cases of "This person posted my opinion, but better than I could have." I get that it could just be a simple misunderstanding, but then you had to go and get dismissive of valid criticism, treating it almost like a personal attack. If it was jut one person, I could understand, but several people have brought this up to you. Don't take it as an attack. It is simply an opportunity to learn and improve.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.

You know, Normal, I could buy that crap if their weren't a ton of examples here that can be classified as "opinions". And it seems everytime some wannabe Mod like Tomu springs up there a three more, like you, who join in.

On top of that I already explained that I feel the guy's statements are more than merely "I like his opinion." I happen to think it's a valid explanation that has the added bonus of using wit to make the point clear. I could see how you might've missed that.

So since I've explained my rationale and pointed out the flimsiness of the argument; and then instead of addressing my points, still more wannabe Mods pop up justifying it, I'm left to see it as anything but constructive criticism.

To me it looks more like I just happened to add Scrib's quotes at time when it attracted the attention of a few dissenters who tried to cloak their "We don't like this" as "Oh, well there are rules that say this shouldn't be here." And then when instead of "Oh, gosh, I'm sorry I stepped on your toes," I respond with, "Until you can give me a reason that amounts to little more than your opinion, perhaps you should keep quiet," folks get pissy.

Well, alas Normal, that's not my problem and I'm not apologizing.
