No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Well a bayonet counted as a regular knife and so used the wielder's strength. If it was used by a Captain (Hero) or a Colonel (Mighty Hero) though it would have Strength 4. Lasguns were always Strength 3 although the Hot-Shot Lasguns used by Storm Troopers were Strength 4.
Should the Space Marine entry in Warhammer 40,000: Astartes be modified to reflect recent events that showed the limits of Games Workshop's ability to monopolize the term? IIRC, the British court ruling pretty much rejected their claim to copyright ownership over the terms "Space Marine(s)", "Imperial Guard", "Storm Troopers", and others from the setting, thus forcing GW to rebrand their codices and replace much of the old names' incidences with the (sometimes newly-made) High Gothic equivalents of those names.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.didn't those events happen years ago?
advancing the front into TV TropesWell, in geological timescales, "years ago" is pretty recent...
Not the Character Page no. That is Trivia at best. (Edit: It actually already is mentioned on the 40K Trivia page)

I was looking at the models from the Deathwatch board game as a replacement for the Marine that's currently in the Deathwatch section on the Chapters page, but I'm having a hard time deciding which one to use. My favorites are either of the Ultramarines, the Dark Angel, or the Space Wolf...what do you think?
use a bloody magpie
advancing the front into TV TropesI would say the Ultramarine would be best as he is the most generic but any would probably do except young Cassius or the White Scar.
I have also finished another model in my Chapter Colour's Project: A Raven Guard Tactical Marine. The Raven Guard probably have the easiest colours of the ones I have done so far (just black and silver) but the hardest Chapter symbol to do freehand.

Looks good, both he and the Grey Hunter.
I've put up the new Deathwatch pic and added some information about the Blackshields. The next image question I have is for the Genestealers section on the Tyranids page. I was going to replace that pic with a collage of pics of the new models from the Overkill game, but now I'm wondering if that wouldn't be a bit of a mess and we should just use a larger version of the current◊, along with maybe a pic of a purestrain Genestealer for comparison's sake. Thoughts?
I was going to suggest using pics of the new Patriarch◊ and Hybrid◊ from Overkill but I do love that piece of art and think the full version could still work on its own.
Also I see we are still using the artwork for Old One Eye. Should we keep that or change it to his old model or his current (somewhat generic) model?
Thanks

I'd say use the current model. I've swapped in the full Cult pic.

Cool, I've changed it. I was thinking about this issue today actually and I have noticed that some character pages have pics in caption notes for when a character's appearance changes over the course of a series (often due to time skips). Do you think it would be appropriate to do that for those characters who have had multiple models such as Old One Eye, Ghazgakhul and Yarrik?
On a non-character page related topic, I recently came across an amusing series of comic strips on DeviantArt that I thought I would share called Chaos Kindergarten
Man, I kinda wanna do an Only War game.
At first I was toying around with the idea of doing a Tanith First-and-Only game. But then I realised that it was a terrible idea.
I wouldn't mess with that, although Yarrick's old model is noted in his section so if it's not linked there I'd add it in.
That's cool (I wasn't too sure how to do that any way)
so, the Forge World staff at MCM failed to confirm any of the rumours I've been hearing in regard to plastic titans and new models and rules for the Bolter Bitches... oh and Eternal Crusade was set up in another part of the con and it was AWESOME! I'm very fond of the Devastator's heavy bolter and the Ground Assaults' shield and chainsword/force weapon combo (giving heretics an Imperial Fisting)
advancing the front into TV TropesIf I ever do a comedy Deathwatch game, I want to put in a reference to the Fish of Fury tactic. Because something about it is really funny to me.
Had the fourth game in our escalation league today. Opponent brought the Skyhammer Annihilation Force and triple-grav Centurions, and drop-podded the entire mess. I conceded at the end of turn 2.
I'm guessing your opponent was running unbound then, as if the Centurions were deployed via Drop Pod as they cannot take them as dedicated transports. Deep Strike armies are a pain to play against, I've never had much luck against them myself.
I've thought about getting a couple more Drop Pods to go for more of a "steel rain" style, especially since I'm running Sallies and their signature weapons are more suited for up-close shooting, but that's a ways down the road.
The Black Wings army I am working on at the moment (for an event at the end of June) has a couple of Drop Pod deployed Tactical Squads. I was going to have all my squads in Drop Pods but I have found them something of a pain to paint and put together so I am adding a Land Raider and a Hunter instead.
Would an Armoury World raise Imperial Guard regiments?

yes, only Forge World's and SPESS MEHREEN recruiting worlds are exempt
advancing the front into TV TropesAt least Armory Worlds don't have a problem supplying their troops.
So a basic human with lasgun/bayonet would have had S4?
