No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Maybe the shakeup will be that the setting moves on to the 42nd Millennium.
Advancing The Story? HERESY!!!!
advancing the front into TV TropesThe new Edition rumours continue with this: There won't be a new Edition until at least 2017 but the storyline will move forward.
So as far as I am aware the 8th Edition rumours so far have been: 1-It will be a minor refinement of 7th but no major background changes; 2-There will be a new Edition in the Autumn that will be streamlined but not to the extent of Age of Sigmar; 3-There will be a new edition in 2017+ but the story will move forward until then.
Of these I think the third is the most probable as the story has been moving forward with Shadow-Captain Shrike becoming the Raven Guard Chapter Master, the Wulfen returning and with Aun'va and (possibly) Canis Wolfborn being killed

On the other hand, GW is planting seed for a "End times" escenarios: the khaine gate in comorragh, the silver book of cegorach where it plan is ultimate jest where Slaanesh is going to save the eldar instead of dooming them and ghazskull plans and so own, granted is waaaay far to actually do that so there is not problem them
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"yeah, but will it actually advance into the 42nd Millennium?
advancing the front into TV TropesAs far as I'm concerned, future historians of the 40k galaxy will puzzle as to how the last 9 hours of 999.M41 were filled with so many important events.
IF there is any historian at the end of course
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Sigh. If only they had set the story at start of the 41st millennium instead of the end of it.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"or like... 20 years before the end
advancing the front into TV Tropes
That would make the 40000 make a lot more sense, wouldn't it, as opposed to 40999?
well, consider the beast series is writing about the imperium post heresy and aparenly they are plaing to write books about the scouring(which in a way they already did with battle of the fang) what other part of past would you like to see?
I will love to see the terra-nova integerrium, that sound a intersting thing to see
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"For today's 2nd Edition Thursday a limited edition special character released to celebrate the 100th Games Workshop store in the UK: Veteran Sergeant Centurius of the Legion of the Damned.◊
Veteran Sergeant Centurius is the only named Legion of the Damned character and (in the fluff) the highest ranked Legionnaire identified.
Centurius replaced the Sergeant of a Legion of the Damned squad and his stats were M4 WS6 BS6 S4 T4 W1 I6 A1 Ld9. He was equipped with a Bolt Pistol, Chainsword, Power Armour and Frag Grenades. He was also equipped with the special Wargear Card, The Animus Malorum, and could take additional Assault Weapons (pistols and close combat weapons) or Grenades from the Space Marine Armoury.
The Animus Malorum is an ancient relic taking the form of a skull whose eyes blaze with light when its power is unleashed. During the psychic phase the power of the Animus Malorum could be targeted at a single living enemy model within 12”. You could use between 1 and 3 Force cardsnote to power the skull. You had to roll a D6 for every Force card used and if the result was more than the target’s Ld. value then its soul is sucked from its body – the model died regardless of Wounds or armour. If the target was killed then you could resurrect a dead Legion of the Damned model, placed within normal unit coherency. This could not be used to increase the unit beyond its original size. The power of the skull could be Nullified like a psychic power, requiring a 4+ to successfully Nullify it.
Veteran Sergeant Centurius had the usual Legion of the Damned special rules of ignoring all Leadership based tests, causing Fear and had the normal Space Marine Rapid Fire rule allowing him to fire Bolt Weapons twice if he remains still.
Did the Legion of the Damned have a 3++ save back in the day?
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."No just regular Power Armour, they were basically a Veteran Squad that was immune to Leadership based tests and caused Fear (which in 2nd Edition meant that: 1- A unit charged by a Fear causing unit had to take a Leadership test. If the test was failed then the unit had to flee if they were outnumbered by the fear causing unit or fight at half WS if not outnumbered; 2 - Models wanting to charge a Fear causing model had to test and if they failed then they couldn't move but could fire as normal; 3 - At the end of a close combat phase where a unit is fighting a Fear causing unit then they must take a Break test even if they wouldn't normally have done so)
So, today I talked with one of the players about the next session. And he suggested that I put in pretty much every enemy in all the bestiaries minus the really broken ones like the Necrons, for example.
And I'm kinda tempted to do it, just for the kicks.
They'd probably be fighting each other as well, wouldn't they? That might make it even more fun.
so... the party come to the heart of the ship to find an Ork WAAAAGH! charging into the heart of a genestealer cult while Rak'Gol assault them from the rafters, Kroot mercenaries hold back to see who wins, various lesser Daemons lay into everyone... I miss anything?
advancing the front into TV Tropesand a webway gate appears in the heart of it (4th Degree Warp Fuckery) and a few squads of Eldar come out, promptly declare "fuck this shit!" and try to fight their way out

advancing the front into TV TropesYou could make it Dark Eldar, so they're just capering around being all, "Yess! Delicious!"
Nah, the dark eldar would be asking why the orgy(because, that is how orgy look to them)
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"In other news, i just saw that 1d4chan has an sjw page......Yeah, i am now done with that wiki. I am honestly wondering how i was able to even enjoy that wiki knowing it had a page of mlp that has very gory images of cute horses getting ripped up into pieces, cause that totally isn't gross or anything. Or how they claimed that an page talking about racism in 40k was "more racist than anything game workshop made".
I am done with 1d4chan.
to be air they edit and correct themselve every now and them, just in the mlp page they said "tg have moment where they which to be a little girl" or "we deal with that stuff as with every single thing we dont understand: we RAGE!" and the talk page are talking about where they should erase the whole SJW thing or not.
On the other hand, their whole "manly=GOOD not manly=pussy=BAAAAAD" is annoying, even more their anti-eldar bias or their fanboysm of Imperial guard look a lot liek the typical batman fanboy(you know, the whole "they can beat everyone by sheer awsome and yet they are just a man" bullshit) or their workship of ollinius pius when he break every piece of fluff about emperor vs horus.
so they are a hit or miss for me.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Chan culture isn't 100% bad, but it has some really, really deep and toxic pits full of awful, entitled jackasses. Most of said jackasses are either so lacking in self-awareness that they genuinely think accusing anti-racism activists of being "the real racists" is a silver bullet, or don't care about anything other than causing people misery for their own entertainment.
I knew they were out there but I haven't seen them myself. I am wondering if the new model will have any references to the previous Leman Russ model from 1st Edition.◊
